Default Pro 5.0 Problem

I just pulled the stock shifter from my 00 WS6 and installed a new Pro 5.0 shifter. Of course it doesn't want to self center. The main problem I'm having is at times when I shift from 3-4 it wants to go into 2nd. I did not cut the boot. I never had this problem with the stock shifter. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas? Thanks.

i THINK YOUR SUPPOSED TO CUT THE BOOT, AND DO YOU HAVE THE BEND ON THE STICK THE RIGHT WAY.iF YOU GET A SHORT STICK FROM LOUS ,UMI,WS6 STORE THEY HAVE A BEND ON THE STICK SO YOU GET A BETTER FEEL AND ALSO SHORTENS THE SHIFTS.

Yeah cut the boot and make sure the shifter is angled towards the driver side not away from it.

I'm using the handle that came with the shifter with about an inch cut off. It is angled towards the driver. I didn't cut the boot because I read were alot of people on here said not to. I may try driving it without the boot. I hate to cut it because I haven't decided if I'm going to keep the Pro 5.0 or put my stock hurst back in. I just got back from driving it and a couple times it didn't want to go into 4th. I never had this problem with the stock shifter. I think I will back the shifter stop bolts all the way off and see what that does. Thanks guys.

Something just isnt installed right i love my pro 5.0,I would just cut the boot and like you said adjust the stop bolts. From what I remember your supposed to leave a gap the thickness of a credit card, then tighten your stop bolts.Cutting the boot I think aligns the shifter were it needs to be for more positive shift alignment.

I'm waiting to see if the place I bought it from will exchange it for another. If not I will remove the shift boot and back the stops off and drive it. If it still does it Pro 5.0 says to send it to them and they will check it out.

No problems with my Pro 5.0. Never heard anything like that before.

Well I pulled the boot and drove it. It still acted up. I took my stock shifter apart and found that the 1-2 gate had double springs. I took the pro 5.0 apart and installed a second spring in the 1-2 gate. This has fixed my problem.

I've had my 5.0 for a while now and haven't experienced anything like that, wicked Z28 is right though......
