Default Clutch assembly replacement cost?

Just dropped the 05 CTS-V off at Cadillac today. Wouldn't let me shift into reverse. Had to hold in third and quickly shift into reverse to get her there. They say my full clutch assembly needs replaced (clutch, flywheel, master cylinder, etc.) Quoted me 3K total, 2200 parts, 800 labor. If thats what it costs, then so be it. Just wondering what other people had put in and how much it cost them....

Did you abuse the clutch at all?? Was it fine in all the other gears??

Sounds like its a hydraulic issue to me, meaning the master or slave is worn/leaking and not fully releasing the clutch when the pedal is fully depressed.

Sounds like they are taking you for a ride and replacing everything, which probably isn't necessary.

I'm the second owner. No abuse on my end. Very docile driver, especially for this type of car. I told him NOT to do the clutch. No other gears have issues, really. Just can't shift directly into Reverse. Sounded way too high for a stock clutch replacement to me. Just wanted to see what other people thought/what they paid for similar work...

Dealerships charge a arm and a leg plug cash. Do get a second opinion at a independent shop.

I have a brand new CTS-V clutch for sale. I will let it go for a pretty good price, let me know.

I highly doubt that the clutch and flywheel have anything to do with it, if its not the hydraulics or the shift gate for reverse I would say its something wrong inside the tranny before the clutch and flywheel
