Description:

Hey guys,

I hate to do this after all the work I've put in my car, but I'm curious if anyone out there has a car that may fit my needs more than my 1968 Camaro does. My wife and I just had our second baby, and it's got me thinking about getting more of a cruiser that has more room for the kiddos. As it is right now, my 4 YO is pretty tight in the back seat sitting behind my wife and at 6' 2" I've got my seat all the way back leaving zero room for another car seat. So, if I want to cruise in the next few years with the kiddos, I need to figure something out that will give more room.

I've always loved the tri-5 Bel-Air's, and I'm in love with the Nomads. Ideally what I'd like to find is a car with original patina that's solid. I would also consider a car that has been painted, but I'd really like to have a car with a one of the 50's colors. Teal, baby blue, brown, cream, etc. The car also doesn't need to have a drive-train, or a bad motor/trans as I'm not opposed to a semi-project. At this point I'm not in a position to add cash to the deal. I'm not actively selling, but if someone mad me a good offer I would sell it outright. It may be easier that way, but thought it would be cool to trade cars.

No hurry for this, but wanted to throw it out there. Here's a link to my build, should answer any questions.

Here are some current pictures.

If interested, send me a PM and we can exchange phone numbers to talk on the phone.

Thanks,
Ryan

Had the same sort of dilemma when my daughter was a born. Put a car seat in the back of a fourth gen, t tops in the already tiny trunk and your left with one mini rear bucket for storage when the wife is crammed forward in an already tight car.

So I started looking for another "cool" car that every one could fit in with extra room for whatever and maybe tow a camper. I looked at nomads, Chevelle wagons and suburbans.

Nomads were out of my price range. I wantwd something fairly nice, not a project. The same for the Chevelle type wagons. They are just hard to find in general. Found lots of suburbans. In varying conditions and levels of stockness. So just throwing that out there.

A 2wd burb drives nice, looks good, and can be or not be a hot rod depending on your choice.

Found one with rebuilt factory big block and new ac ac system within a couple of weeks and was on a plane shortly thereafter. Pretty shitty back yard paint job but a solid truck. Hard to beat for under 20 grand. Prices are starting to swing up sharply. Might be a good time to snag one.

Check out 67-72chevytrucks.com . Good site with lots of good folks and info if you're interested. And of you do find yourself interested and end up getting one be prepared for people to be impressed that you found one of the rare and cool 3 doors. (They are all 3 doors btw. It's actually my only gripe about the truck.)

Thanks Leon for sending that along. I'll have to give that some thought. I'm really looking for a Nomad, but that one's pretty nice.

Never knew the “handyman” existed. I thought it was a nomad at first...it does look nice. You may be looking for one in rougher/roller condition. Good luck!

I am too a huge fan of the tri5’s. Such an iconic style. I have a picture of a 4 door 57 in Fallujah back in 2004, imagine Cuba has many more!

AnotherWS6, I haven't given much thought to Suburban's, but I'll have to start checking them out when they pop up.
