**Midwest Union Workers**
I want to get into an ironworkers union but every were around here is not accepting applications. I have taken all the stick welding classes at Moraine valley cc and have passed bend tests in all positions with no problems.
Now for some BS-> Earlier this summer 52 merged w/ 21 (bricklayers). No vote, no warning, NOTHING. 21's scale is less, i hear their health package isnt as good as ours, amongst other things... So when our contract is up next June, i see big changes for us. Defintely not good...
Both of my brother-in-laws are 281 Sprinklerfitters..., 9 years in. One got cut down to 4 days a week/32hours. The other just got laid off. He was a Foreman w/ a service van. Really unexpected for him.

. Thing is its not what I really want to do, I would rather be a welder/fabricator. I guess you gotta do what you can do and who will take you though. Im going out to Arizona this tuesday to sign up for Ironworkers union out there. There is only 180 guys on the waiting list and my sister lives out there so it might work out. Why would people pay top dollar for a union worker. When theres others doing it for less. Your side jobbing yourself out of work.
Your right there with all the immigrants putting us out of work.
