Soooo I think we understand what the difference in the credit union and a bank is. One is run by the people who have accounts there. IE They appoint the chairmen and such and the other is a run by the chairmen. A Credit Union is exactly like a public company in regards to how the upper level of management is chosen. I figured that out when I was 13 when I opened a CHECKING and SAVINGS account with one.

OH YEA, that is the ONLY FU(KING DIFFERENCE.

A cashiers check that is made out to you by a lending bank or credit union is good as cash. How about you wait until the bank or credit union OPENS to confirm it? How hard is that to wait the extra 15 minutes? I would be pissed as all out too if I got into a 3 hour drive to pick up a future car only to have the deal screwed up because the seller was being a retard.

You take the check to your bank and cash it the second the car drives away.

CASH IN YOUR POCKET.

We never got to that because of the way I was spoken to.

FUNDS DO NOT CLEAR FOR 3 days MINIMUM.... STILL NO "CASH IN HAND."

Come on now...

in all honesty..

im on nicks side on this..

i ONLY accept cash in a sell/trade or anything like that.. he was taking a chance by even considering it.. when he got an "iffy" feeling, he pulled out.. just like i would have done..

he handled a few things differently.. but like he said, if you have ever been charged and went to court over a fight (your property or your fault doesnt matter) its EXPENSIVE and stay with you a long time.. not worth it... ESPECIALLY if you have kids...

im going to guess most of you have only bought maybe 1 car by your self, or maybe none.. a lot of 18 year old kids running their mouth about something they dont know..

lay off nick..

A cashiers check is cashed right then by most banks.

I bought my car with a cashiers check and the previous owner cashed the check THAT hour.

I know he was stating he wanted cash, the problem is that he went through the trouble of talking to the buyers bank and LOAN officer. Why do that and then turn away the guy after youve sent copies of the bill of sale, title and so on?

Nicks problem seems to stem from the fact he couldnt contact the bank at 845 in the morning on a Saturday. Then he concluded that packer was coming down to buy the car with a "face check" from a credit union he has never heard of so he gets scared.

Here is the link for all you fucktards that want to quibble about bullshit:

http://www.wdfi.org/wca/consumer_cre...stitutions.htm

He was very irritated the car would not leave without my confirming payment as legit. After BLOCKED CALL ID NUMBERS ON 2 different telephones he/dad called from YOU BET YOUR *** I'm checking the funds. PERIOD. Home Phone number is blocked and i'm not going to get into that. Cell phones are not blocked. How would you know that two different numbers were blocked? We never CALLED you when we were driving down from the cell phones. We only contacted you from our home #? and I still find this irrelevant..out of state phone numbers only show the number anyway, not a name.

You guys want to call me out on THIS?!?!

I told him of this scenario MANY TIMES before Saturday and that maybe a weekday might be better but he explained he was going to college the next week so it needed to be Sat. This is true.

He was assuming I called FRIDAY to verify check (I have no check# =I make NO CALL) Eric would not divulge that.I didn't feel safe giving out the check number before we meet and I even see the car

The CREDIT UNION (driveup only open on SAT.) DID NOT pick up their phone @ 8:45AM SAT.Not open yet

IT WAS HIS JOB TO BE SURE FUNDS COULD BE VERIFIED on SAT. or ANY DAY HE CAME OUT. NOT MINE.You talked IN PERSON to my loan officer at my bank, I asked my loan officer if the check could be verified by phone on saturday. He said only tellers are in but my loan officer said "I talked to Tom last night." Should be ready to go then..nope.

Had it not gotten ugly I would've suggestede him to have a friend run up to the Credit Union drive up and explain the situation to the person in charge. I BET WE COULD HAVE RESOLVED THIS RIGHT THEN BUT... BANG!Oh, now you say you would have worked something out, huh? What were the words that came out of your mouth RIGHT OFF THE BAT??? "You may as well turn your car around right now, your not leaving with my car"
Why did you have to wait 100 some miles before telling us this? Why not tell us with the first call you made to the cell phone early into our trip why wait until were 3/4 way there?

After the threat I chose NOT to sell the car to him based on his choices.
My wife picked up another phone as I was informing him of the potential consequence of continuing to our home.Definitely a three way call.

WHY WOULD I WANT THIS INDIVIDUAL ON MY PROPERTY?????True

This seems very obvious to me but I must be missing something for you guys to be calling me slurs.

I HAVE A FAMILY TO PROTECT and these gentlemen were not welcome at my house (AFTER THE THREAT) but insisted on arriving and doing me bodily harm. After we said what we did, we never INSISTED on arriving. It was stated once out of anger and we were on our way home

Would you like your children to witness this in their FRONT YARD?Absolutely not

Come on fellas for christ sake I'm 43. Irrelevant

I didn't throw a hissyfit to everybody that would listen for a month 'cause I didn't get my way.Just letting people know what happened

If you fellas think I'm the ******* here so be it.

Ps.

To the guy suggesting the CC and the .45 on my hip....

Nah. AR-15 semi-auto (sure) with a laser sight and a spotlight.
It's all about the presentation for me. (And keeping the grouping)

You guys callin' me a ***** have NEVER had your wages garnished to repay a court settlement, have you.

Fighting about this??!!!?? Funny. HAHA.

Anyway I gotta go now-- Thanks for all the kind words socked to me based on a one sided story....
I really wanted this to just go away but have learned a lesson here...

Maybe I need a Mercedes..... E55.

Peace

Tom's wife here. He's not a *****, I didn't want this guy and his dad anywhere near our house with our children after he made a threat. I called the police to make a report in case they decided to continue on their way to carry out what they said they would do.

It was made VERY clear that the check needed to be verified before the car left the driveway (pretty standard). For those who believe a cashier's check is the same as cash, talk to our neighbor. He lost out when a 'cashier's check' that seemed perfectly legit wasn't, and let his quad go thinking he had the same as 'cash in hand'. It was a bogus check and he was out $4000. I'll bet he will want to verify next time!

It is irritating to have some guy whine all over the internet because he didn't get what he wanted - even though he wasn't willing to play by the rules. It's especially irritating when he drags your name around in the process.

Please stop, you little spoiled brat, my children better NEVER behave the way you do!

You can deposit the check and it takes 3 days before the money shows up in your account from the other bank. You can cash it immediately - only if you have that amount or more in your account to cover the funds in case the money doesn't go through.

Example: Somebody gives you a cashiers check for $1000. You take it to the bank to cash. You must have at least $1000 in your bank account to cover that check before they will give you the cash. If they give you the cash and it turns out the check is bogus - guess what - they take the $1000 out of your account to cover it! You lose!

It's important to know this, to save yourself from getting burned. Like I said in my previous post, our neighbor did have problems and ended up without $4000.

This is not a shove it in your face post, just hoping to save somebody from making a costly mistake.

WOW...

I have noticed over the years that when people get their "daddy" involved things go to crap....

CASH IN HAND PEOPLE!!!!!!! It saves to many problems, you give me cash I give you goods. If the person gives you a certified check you have the bank check it out, they say it looks good, they deposit it, once it clears you give the buyer the product....

If its from the same bank then they can tell your right then if you will be ok to cash it.

I sell things out of state as a HUGE last resort to avoid all this...

Threatening the guy then admitting to it online was rather stupid.... and whats better is that even if you edit out that coment the mods/admin can still see it hahaha. Remindes me of the kid that edited out things to change his story... mods reposted it..... the result was hallarious and I think the kid got arrested haha.

Let it die, hold checks untill they clear or pay/take cash only.. and even then you can take it to the bank to make sure the cash is good!

I must be a genius...

Ever had that pit in your stomach and it just doesn't feel right?
I dont know what your talking about. All I said was after all the trouble that guy went through to get the loan/check or whatever. You should not have basically told him to **** off when he was half way there and coming to check out the car. Im sure you shattered this kids heart wich really pissed of his dad, hence the blank threat.
Its not like you couldnt verify the check B4 the left your house and you handed them the keys. If that would have happened there would be no threat in the first place.
BTW AR-15 is my personal choice to, but hanging out in the driveway with one isnt the most practical thing to do. If you had a bad feeling then I would have my S&W in my belt under my coat. Let the guys come up and take a look. You verify the check while they are there and IF all the sudden the check is bad and you ask them to leave. If they say NO give me the car or Im going to kick your *** you have a line of defence.
Seems you jumped the gun made these guys do alot of work and travel just to be turned away at the halfway point.

Yes I have a laserjet wtf does that have to do with anything? Just verify the check when they got there. You aready had all the info in the world besides the #.
Whatever..... Id be pissed if I was them also!!!!!!
I dont know you so I dont have anything personal against you! After reading the story this is just my .02
Seems to me everything would have worked out just fine and avoided all this mess, if you were just patient enough to let them get there and work things out.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Perfect example here. I was wanting this LT1 car and wanted to sell the motor to help pay for the car. Said that if I had the money on a weekend I would get the car and the Motor/Trans/Harness would be ready to be picked up by that Wed. A friend of mine vouched for me saying it was legit and whammer was interested, the guy lives kinda far from me so I did not want to go up to look at the car unless I knew the $$$ was straight... I also told him that I did not want the money untill I checked it all out. I went and looked at it after he gave me a go and guess what? The car had a lot more damage and things wrong with it then what he told me.

I thought about it and told him no thanks and PM's whammer and told him. He said ok thanks and that was it! I did not have to send him back any money or anything....
