Need help on longtube headers install

Default Need help on longtube headers install

ok so i just bought hookers super comp longtubes the other day for my 2000 trans am. so then i decided to install them my slef well i got the passenger side all done but for some odd reason i cant get the driver side in and i took off the plugs and wires and i even removed the bolt that holds the steering linkage togther and they still do not go in. any help that i get i will be very grateful for

I think they go in from under the car and you will have to jack up the car a good amount

woops forgot to add that i am installing then from the bottom of the car and yes the car is high enough and it still will not go in

Try taking the oil filter out, that might give you some more room to work. I always had problems with the passenger side header.

take the motor mount bolt out and use a jack to lift it up only on the drivers side thats what i had to do for my hookers, sounds retarted but works rather quickly

+2 I helped install some on a 99 camaro and it was a Pita ended up jacking the engine up some and tilting it.

you dont have to pull the bolts out. just loosen the three bolts on the bottom of the metal part of the mount and k member and put a good strong peace of wood on the oil pan or trans pan and jack it up from the passide so the jack is not in your way and stuff them in there.

If the header is getting caught between the block and the firewall, simply use a hammer to put a small, unnoticeable, dimple in the firewall. Just enough to squeeze the header past. It worked when a friend and I installed his Jet Hot Lt's on his 98 Z28. Once you've completed the install you'll forget its even there.
