Default Illinois LT1 Guys Must Read!

I have been meaning to post this up for a couple of weeks and just have not gotten around to it yet. This is in regards to IL Airteam rules that effects those of us interested in exhaust and staying legal in IL.
I am active duty military and currently living in CA, but all of my cars are registered in IL, and I still have my IL drivers liscense, since I am still technically an IL resident. I will eventually be going back to IL, so I was checking on what the rules were with Airteam for exhaust since I have not been there much in the past 6 years. I had not gotten any concrete answers so I finally called the Illinois EPA. What they told me there was that any vehicle made in 1995 or prior was NOT required to meet smog/emissions standards. I clarified with her further, and the car would not be required to to go to a testing center, and there are no other rules that we have to follow. Thought you would find this interesting and helpful.

Old News but keep it fresh for new owners. I think this took effect last year, also keep in mind this is not for all LT1 owners 96-97 Still have to go though OBD II testing.

That law is awesome, I bought my 93 right after it, straight through pipe where the catalytic converter should be....no emission testing

as far as I know, only the areas that live close enough to an Air Team center are required to do the test for 96 and newer. One of the reasons I posted this up though is because in a lot of states you can be subject to visuals, and there aren't even any visuals on 95s and earlier. You could run straight dumps and be TOTALLY legal.
