Collectors insurance FTW. If your car isn't a daily driver and you have another car, you can insure it for "agreed value" which will pay you replacement value in the event of a total loss, not just kbb value or what a normal policy would pay. I carry $10k agreed value on my 95 T/A with almost 128k on the clock. My car is clean and rust free. i'd have to travel south to find a replacement car since most up here get driven year round. The insurance costs me $264 a year with a 5k mi mileage restriction, however they didn't ask for an odometer reading when i started the policy. I usually do around 4k mi a year.

when i totalled my 99 SS, i fought with insurance over the value of the car.. took me about a money of persuading.. found every decent NBM ss on the site and showed them, and they told me to pick one that was the closest to mine mileage wise and year wise.. and they gave me the $, I got LUCKY, because they were trying to give me somewhere in the 6-7k range...
