Motorcycle insurance, who do you have????
I owned a Yamaha R1 about 11 years ago, insurance was pretty cheap then ($180 a month) and I was 22yrs old. Now I want to buy a new bike and motorcyle insurance has shot up.
Motorcycle owners/riders who are you insured through???
I've always had insurance through Allstate and have been happy with them, however i might consider and different company for a motorcyle
here are my quotes (full coverage):
2009 - yamaha r1 sportbike - $379 a month
2009 - yamaha FZ6R sport cruiser - $249 a month
2009 - yamaha V-star 950 cruiser - $100 a month
(that is with all discounts applied and state minimums)
Its amazing how much crotch rockets went up in insurance costs in the last 10 yrs. My agent said my $379 quote was cheap, he sometimes quotes people up to $800 a month (because of age/driving record and CC).

I have progressive as well. When I got my bike several years ago, they were by far the cheapest premium and one of the few that would cover me bc of my age, despite me having a clean record, several wouldn't insure under 25.

Progressive, $78 bucks a year. Of course it's a cruiser bike, Suzuki intruder 1400. Checked out a hayabusa and it was going to be a couple hundred a month........ Not happening. I'm also 27

My R1 was 120 a month when I had full coverage on it, now that it is paid off I just have labialty on it. I know it went down quite a bit but not sure how much, I just bought a house also so that dropped my rates also. This is through Farm Bureau.
If I remember right I checked state farm and they wanted twice as much because I believe they went off a power to weight ratio or somthing like that and farm bureau was so much for cc then was so much more on top of that for a sport bike.
State Farm was crazy cheap of a V-twin type bike through he could put me on a 1200 sporty for about a 1/4 of the annual payment of the R1.
