Thumbs up First trip to a drag strip!

Hey guys, I went out to KCIR tonight and it was a blast, didn't run my car cuz I don't have a helmet yet, but ya it was definitely worth the 10 bucks to get in! I didn't know what to expect as I have only seen tracks on videos, but I was surprised how fun it was to just sit there n watch 8-12 second cars go all out! Was definitely fun and I cant wait to go back! Hopefully next week I will have a helmet so I can go get a baseline before I put the TSP Tsunami cam package in my SS. But sorry for rambling on I just wanted to share my experience with everyone!

BTW saw a few LS powered vehicles and even an LT1 Trans am... if any of you are on here chime in please!

Make sure to get and SA2005 helmet. Wait till you make your first pass. You'll want to be there everyday.

Make sure everything is tight and you have a driveshaft loop on if you got drag radials or slicks. They will ask and if you find the right ******* he/she will look under the car.

You don't have to worry about a ds loop yet. I go to kcir 4-5 times a yr always on slicks. they never checked on test n tune night. wed/fri. eve.
I'll be going there next friday will be tuning with the nitrous. Prob. going to let my son take his built 93' ta. It will be his 1st. time ever. You ought to try to come again. and look on craigslist in kc. there are a bunch of helmets for around 50.00 there just like new.

Don't put off getting a driveshaft loop just because "they won't look". It's a cheap investment for a product which adds a measure of safety and can keep the damage to a minimum if you break a shaft or U-joint...on the track or on the street.

It's really cool that you had a good time! Keep us posted on your first runs!

Best run was a 13.1 at 109 with a 2.1 60ft... I can't hook at all, I'm on bald shitty *** nitto drags. Once I get tires n a lil bit of suspension work I'm hoping for a mid to low 12 sec pass!

when ive gone they only wanted a loop on cars with slicks and power adders, also on test and tune they didnt give a **** about what kind of helmet u had as long as u had one. 1 guy was using a motocross one. I also had the nitto drs ive found 18psi and a big burnout hooks pretty well.
