Ohio People!!!!
Whats up people,
I'm going to be moving to Columbus in the beginning of January. My registration is due in February and i require a smog test here in California in order to renew my tags. Does the state of Ohio require smog testing like they do in California? I'm aware that its mandatory in 7 counties. Is Columbus one of the seven?
Any info would be great!!
Thanks,
Mike

So, do you think i should just wait, or go ahead and have the emissions test here in Cali? Im just curious bc if its not required, then id rather not waste the money on smog testing it.

Mike,
Columbus (Franklin county) is test-free. Don't waste your money...
Here's a link to the Ohio BMV web site page which has the info you need to get your car(s) registered in Ohio...
http://bmv.ohio.gov/new_resident_info.stm
Good Luck...

I know from experience moving to Columbus from out of state. They will require you to go to a tag and title service, then to the BMV, then back to the tag and title service. At the first tag and title service visit they will give you an inspection, which just consists of them checking the car's vin and your title's vin to make sure they match up. Then you go to the BMV for your title transfer. You then go back to the tag and title place for your tags and stickers. Since it is back and forth a bit, I would recommend trying to find a BMV with a tag/title service next door or close by. There is one on Morse Road (the one I went to), here's the info for the BMV:
Agency #2590**
(Proximity One-Stop)
The Patio Shops
1472 Morse Rd.
Columbus, OH 43229
(614) 781-0060
8:00-6:30 Monday
8:00-5:00 Tues-Fri
8:00-noon Saturday
There will be a tag and title service almost next door. They're both in the same plaza. And, like Tony said, Franklin County is E-Check free Hope this helps.
