Default ILLINOIS members! Speed Limit

I'm headed to Chicago tomorrow and wondering what the interstate speed limit is for a 3/4 ton truck and car trailer is? I thought at one time truck limits were 55mph. Not for sure if that was semi trucks or what? Thought I'd ask instead of finding out the hard way!

Most drive 70ish on the interstate...trucks w/trailers included. 65 is the limit, 55 min.

As far as I know you follow the speed limit no matter what. I pull a boat almost every weekend and cruise a long at 70-75 on the interstate here in Iowa. Have pulled the boat out of state and have never heard of a speed limit law for trailers.

What are you bringing back to this great state by the way? I used to live in Ankeny but now live in Des Moines.

trucks over 4 tons......go the semi speed limit legally....says it on the sign. Now typical illinois cruising speed and what the sign says are usually off by 15 mph

Not in near the city. Once you get further in the limit is 55 for everyone. Not that anyone does it.

id say you'd be safe and moving with traffic if you go between 67-70 on highway.

I believe semi speed limit was bumped up to 65mph too so you should be fine doing 65-70mph. If you stay with traffic you should be fine as long as the police don't target you since you will have out of state plates.
