Welcome! Click on my sig pic to see my 'bird.

As far as picking one over the other, they're mechanically identical. Pick your favorite based on styling. That's what I did.

Yep, exactly.

I love F-bodies so much that I'm on my 4th one now. 1 Formula, 1 Trans Am (WS6), and 2 Z28s. I'm addicted.

In the end I'd have to say that I like the Pontiacs and Chevys equally, but for different reasons.

Camaro = sleek, clean, all-business muscle type look.
Firebird/Trans Am = bold, flashy muscle type look.

They are both very aggressive in their own way.

if you want something that you dont see everyday in the spring summer, or at least by me anyways, get a 98+ WS6. i see z28 and ss all the time but dont see any ws6 except for mine. many more looks in one of these then any other f-body.

just my opinion

steve

check out my website and look at how awesome they look.............

I'm pretty sure i'm going to go with the ws6 i just like the aggressiveness of the front end with the ram air hood. the only thig is i don't understand what the m4 or m6 or whatever it is i just thought it was ram air and non ram air if you could let me know what all that stands for that'd be helpful i have big plans on the car and have done a lot of reading about the ls1 and wouldn't choose anything else.

It's A4 or M6 and this stands for auto (4-speed) trans or manual (6-speed) trans.

WS6s are actually more common than a regular Trans Am in the last couple years of production. In the Chicagoland area, I see about an equal amount of all the different F-bodies.

If you want a ws6, please come to my town and get one of these 2 used ws6s out of here. I live in a town of 1900 and there's a little mom and pop used car shop that I noticed has 2 of em sitting in their lot in the span of 6 days. Grrrr. I bought mine about 6 months ago cuz it's rare to see them around here. I guess there'll be 2 more on the streets by spring. It never fails. Ugh!

I live in the st louis area but plan on moving to arizona to go to school so what would the best advise be on the best money making mods be i want to keep it a streetable car but also want to run at least 11's if not faster. I've seen all these guys write in with there best times with just a cam and cam and heads and all that but it's still hard to believe someone can run low 11's high 10's with just a cam swap. I'm already going to get a Borla or Corsa exhaust a lid and all that but what else are good budget mods to go quick.

Get headers, off road y-pipe, pick a cat-back, Lid, 231/237 cam and you'll be in the 11's and then some. And a tune...

Yep, just add to this list a 3500+ stall TC (for A4) or 4.10 gears (for M6) and some sticky tires.

I was planning on getting a granatelli maf sensor too is this necessary or can i get away without having that? Also i've been seeing that a lot of ls1 guys have Meziere electric water pumps but they cost $500.00 plus what's so special about them or can I just get a cheaper electric unit to fulfill the needs i have? What are some weight saving measures i can do too i have hookups with racing seats so that's not a problem i was hoping i might be able to take the back bench seat out and put racing buckets all around is that possible? any ideas about the lexan glass kits that jegs sells they say it saves 63 pounds but is pretty expensive your opinion on that?

You don't need the electric water pump or the maf sensor. Weight reduction that's your friend

Take out-
A/C
All insualtion under the carpet
air bags
rear seats and belts
spare tire/jack
a.i.r. system
egr
windsheild resevior
bumper supports
aftermarket hood instead of stock
15" wheel and tire set-up

How far do you want to take it?
