The 25th is my b-day, but I may be up for it. Hopefully I'll be getting a Shaner S3 in the next few days and I'd be curious to see where that puts me.

Just so you know, take the numbers you get at Straightline with some perspective. It's a Mustang, so obviously it shoudl read lower than a dynojet.
However I dynoed my bolt-on and F13 car there and according to them made 402 hp. Which basically means they've got it calibrated to read arond what a dynojet would. But they still tell you that you'll get more power on a dynojet comared to theirs. According to them my F13 car would put down 440 rwhp on Speeds dyno.

We will have to see. You don't think yours has more than mine does it? Mine is a little different since the last time you saw it

Cars that have been dyno'd on our Mustang Dyno, and also been dyno'd on DynoJet dyno's have shown about a 7-12% difference. For instance one car had a little over 500rwhp on Speed's Dyno, and when tested on the Mustang Dyno, the result was 475rwhp. The two different dyno's work completely different, and hence are hard to compare. Apples to apples, oranges to oranges. When told that on a DynoJet, you should make 440rwhp, that was based on a simple comparison factor of 10%. As the sample of vehicles that have been measured with both a loaded dyno and unloaded dyno, the comparison value will get closer to actual numbers. As of now, that comparison value is a darn good guess. It's not exact, but it's a ballpark estimation using collected data. That 10% comparison factor of what we have found between our Mustang Dyno, and the different DynoJets in the area is probably not to far off from a very "forgiving" DynoJet, and an "unforgiving" DynoJet. The consistency between one DynoJet to another can swing as much as this, where as Mustang Dyno Consistency between dyno's is far more.

As far as calabration, that was done by Mustang Dyno techs when they installed it. Without the proper calibration tools, our abilty to adjust what our dyno reads is limited to being either "Loaded" or "Unloaded." Meaning we can turn off our eddy current generator, and us our dyno as a "Enertia Dyno" just like a DynoJet type dyno. What we have seen when we do that is as much as 17-23% increase in numbers. Thus a car that made 379rwhp with a load, made 443rwhp unloaded. Now every one could agree that those results are over inflated. The reason for this is the difference in mass between a DynoJet rotating mass, and the Mustang dyno rotating mass. We give the 10% horsepower difference as a way to compare. Since most places do not have a loaded type dyno, we give that comparison so that a customer can have a reference against what somebody they know with a similar set up had dyno'd on a DynoJet.

We use our dyno as a tuning tool, not as a bench mark for bragging rights. A machine in which results can be compared against previous measurments to show gains or losses, and to acurately record data.

The best way to do it, is to get a bunch of different cars as possible. That way there is something to compare with apples to apples.

I am curious how my car does against a cam only cars with f13, tr224, and lg cams.

I agree, if this dyno is made for tuning and not for hp number's then what's the point of a dyno day? I mean we aren't all getting our cars tuned, we just want to see how much hp we're making.
