I have Pacesetters too with no cats, no problems here.
Going into a SLP Dual/Dual cat-back, it's pretty quiet.

that reminds me of the time i got pulled over for no front plate, the cop said somthing about racing a mustang, which i didnt, i gave about 1/2 throttle because my lane ends and i wanted it front, and he said somthing about the exhaust being loud (stock manifolds/cats/y-pipe, LM) but yet he only gave me a ticket for no front plate

but i got that thrown out

LOL....I think the chance is greater of getting a no front plate ticket than an exhaust ticket here in IL.

No problems here. I run duals with race bullets and a large cam.

I'm a court news reporter. I've seen a lot of tickets (thousands). Never seen one about Cats.

It would only be the ISP that you would ever have to worry about anyway, unless there is a local ordinance for some really strange reason.

anyone running race mufflers, no cats, and a big cam??? anyone had to go through emmissions??? i know they just hook up the computer and everything will be okay on that, but has anyone been given a hard time becuase the people giving the test KNOW that you're not legal???

i live in the s/w burbs of chicago - i have to get an emissions test come spring and i'll be cammin' w/ no cats, and probably race mufflers off the header.

I seem to remember them runnin a mirror under the car maybe to look for cats? When I went to have my olds tested (obviously a different procedure) but I'm wondering if maybe different counties have slightly different standards. What counties are you all in ? I'm in Cook

No mirrors in Cook county. At least not at the test center I go to.

keep the stock SS catback on the car and with Pacesetters or other LT's and an ORY you'll be fine. It won't be obnoxiously loud.

Ok, but will any codes be thrown in the pcm if you do LT's with no cat as long as you have 02 sims?

Nope.

That is assuming you leave your AIR system intact. And since you have an '01 EGR will obviously not be an issue.....

The place on central doesn't care. As long as it doesn't throw a code, you're good to go. The never even bothered to try looking on my camaro.

Only got pulled over once and the cop checked to see if my mustang had cats and mufflers...He saw the prochamber and thought it was a cat... lol

You can do it that way but here's something to think about. Since you're putting headers on the car you'll most likely want a tune as well. It's either time to invest in Hp Tuners, EFI Live, Predator w/ custom tuning, etc..or take the car somewhere like Speed Inc and have it dyno tuned.
Since you're not going to run cats the AIR is pretty much worthless so you might as well just get the non-emissions headers and ditch the AIR. It cleans up the engine compartment a bit. Then since you'll be getting a tune don't bother with the sims just get the o2 codes and AIR codes deleted in the programming.
I got headers w/ the AIR hookup and removed my AIR later on. It's not a huge issue but I wish I would have just done it right from the start and got the race headers.
just my .02

I used to have LTs, off road mid pipes and SLP Loud Mouth cat back, got pulled over once for speeding and was warned my exhaust could get me a ticket.

Nowadays, my exhaust looks like an '05 GTO's, but Stainless Works 3" from collectors to tail pipes with turbo mufflers sounds stock So i'm not bothered.
