The $1100 included a few parts also, my MAF shorted out, so I had to have that replaced (I got that through at dealer at their cost, so that saved me money), that was one of the causes of my car running lean...and seeing as that was shorted out, the car would go back to running like **** after he put a tune in, so another large portion was labor, I don't remember what else was all included, its all on the bill, I will take a look at it this weekend....but I am pretty sure it was a program that he kept, and I believe he now can work on any 99 LS1. I got to keep the predator, but I believe the program was ordered from GM (don't quote me on that). I was in a rush when I picked the car up, so I didn't get a good chance to talk to him about everything, thats probably my main downfall on the $1100, but I had a car that would actually run, so I was happy about that.

You shouldn't need any other program besides the Predator to tune. That is why they make Predators specific to your vehicle. Next time, I would definently bring it to a respectable shop, which is what I'm gonna do with my new motor. It sucks there is not much around our area, you have to go to damn near Illinois to find a decent shop. But it is well worth the drive if it is better for the vehicle. Also, I don't think Dave does much of the tuning there. There is some young kid that does it, which kinda scares me.

Dave did mine when I had my car there, the young kid was working on some small car there were putting a roll cage in. I think I am going to go check out the place in mosinee, just to see what they have to say, see if they actually know what they are doing.

im gonna give the guy in mosinee a call tommorow. ive got his bussiness card at home. i believe the shop is called dun-rite preformance. i stoped in there about 3 months ago and he said he had ls1 tuning programs on the way. if i remember right i think he said hes getting hptuners and was going to this big training session on it. he for sure seems to know his stuff, we was working on some pretty wild cars there when i was there.

Sounds good to me. When I talked to him, he seemed like a real stand up guy. He was tuning a fox body when I was there and he was going over everything he was doing to the car to the owner, and I doubt he knew what he was talking about. Point is, he still went into detail w/ him.

Yeah, hopefully he knows his stuff, I don't really feel like traveling to Illinois or someplace just as far to get another dyno tune.

well i just got off the phone with dick from donerite, hes not the one i talked to when i stoped in there but he seemed to really know his stuff too. ed did go to florida for training and they do have hptuners. they have posted on theyre site info about the 2000 vette they tuned so they have some experience working on ls1's at their shop. i asked dick about d and d and he has heard some good stuff and some bad stuff about them. he said that the dyno they have there is not meant for tuning. he even gave me about a 20 minute lesson on injectors.

Looks like we should check this place out, since my car was running like **** when I put it away this winter I want to get that done this summer first thing. I was wishing it would be after a cam install but that is not happening this year at all.

I think the dyno shop in Appleton was setup to tune LS1s, I didn't pay that much attention since I drive LT1s and have my own tuning software/hardware.

im not to sure about that. as the ls1 cars that i know of that were tuned in appleton were done by luke frome beyond redline. mine was one and i know the guy who owns the other one. i have efi live and the other guy has ls1 edit. i believe Extreme does not have means to tune ls1's or much else for that matter. its a nice shop though and he does have some good prices on dyno time.

I spoke with the guy at Extreme, he does not have the software to tune LS1's. I know my buddy gets his mustang saleen's tuned there. I never heard of beyond redline, did you buy the software yourself and have him tune it or does he have software? The guy at Extreme offered to tune my car if i bought the software. I spoke with him quite awhile and he really sounds like he knows what he is doing. I am taking my car down to Outlaw Motorsports to get tuned, he's going to throw in a tranny right away since FLT is right down the road.

well i just talked to ed at donerite who is the guy that does the tuning there, he told me ls1s normally take him about 4 hours to do and he quoted me a price of about 1400$$ for a dynotune!! he told me he charges 500$ for the hptuners license which was included. so now it looks like im going the cheap route and going with a mail order tune through TSP for 150$. jason said he can pretty much do them in his sleep now hes done so many and he said that almost all of them are close to perfect on the first try. for the 1250$ difference ill throw on a set of svo 30# injectors, ls7 clutch, and still have probally about 600$ extra dollars.

Dyno tuning isn't all it is made out to be anyway, them rollers are not the same load as the car in the 1/4.

I am working on a signifigant set of mods and one of the vendors actually discouraged me from driving to IL for a dyno tune. He said he would rather see me spend the money on a wideband(already have datalogging) and get it done mailorder.

I am not saying a dyno is worthless just that they are not as wonderful a tool as most believe them to be.

I knew his prices were threw the roof, but I've been told he does a 110% job no matter what. Either way, I went the cheap route w/ A TSP tune and it was dead on. I ended up going to ILL. for a Dyno tune anyway, and it was the best mail order tune he had seen. Granted he pulled another 15 RWHP from the car by playing w/ the tune some, but it was a safe tune none the less. This was almost going on 1 1/2 years ago now, so I know Jason at TSP as been getting better.
