If you scan it, it will be throwing codes for the shift solenoids. Check your ENG CTRL fuse under the hood to make sure it is not blown.

I checked both the 15A and the 50A.
Neither is blown...

I used my dad's scanner at his house. I do not have one at my house.

hmmmm, did you have the pcm tweaked after the converter was put in?

yup..i put the converter in last summer...it has been fine till today.

I just cant figure out why it stuck in third.

weird.
especially since everything is new(less than 1K miles) I am stumped on this one.

I had the same problem, that's why I asked. It was an electrical short coming from the solenoids to the fuse box.

So, I took the car for a ride this morning. It still has the SES light but the car is driving normal again. Most likely it is a tuning issue then?
