How does everybody here fair against the new 04 05 GTO's? On the street yesterday I was running with one and we were pretty much even. The only performance Mod I have that would have helped much would have the 4.10's. I thought they would eat me alive. I stopped to talk to the guy (which was some like 50 yr old man) but whoever was in front of us pulled over too and he thought they were calling the cops on us so we split. The only thing I know he had done to it was exhaust. Just wanted to see how everybody else runs against these.

Stock '04s will run low to mid 13s depending on weather and driver. 05s probably about 1/2 second quicker. My Camaro when stock ran 13.5s
Considering their weight they are pretty quick.

I'd say a stock '01+ LS1 F-body should beat an '04 and either tie or beat an '05+; all else being equal.

My neighbor has a 05 and is a pretty good driver. the best he has managed so far is a 13.6, he says it's a pretty hard car to drive. I have seen him hook at the launch then spin second really bad, let off and roll back into it and spin again (this is with an auto). His is the only GTO I have ever ran, and it is always very very ugly for him....but then I am not stock either.

He may have had some stuff done to it. I didn't get a chance to ask. My car is a '98 though so I need to put on the LS6 intake and other parts I have just layin' around anyway. I will have to find him again and find out if it is stock or not.

Very driver dependent...many '04s I know with bolt ons and DRs can run high 12s. I've faced a couple of stock to lightly modded F-bodies at the track and beat them...barely. A bad driver in a stock '04 or '05 with stock tires could be high 13s/low 14s (depending on track conditions of course). Wheel hop is pretty terrible...
