Default Hey guys

A buddy of mine blew his motor in his '01 Formula m6. From what im understanding he went through some water a couple weeks ago and got water in the motor and blew a rod through the side of the block. Insurance is getting him a new motor and im thinking hard about buying his old COMPLETE motor for $500. Do you think thats a good deal? I want the motor to work on. I'll buy a replacement shortblock and build it to put in my Camaro. Also hes having the people that are putting his motor in put a cam in it. im not sure which one of these it is:

http://www.lmperformance.com/4185/1.html

http://www.lmperformance.com/6360/1.html

But how good are they? He said the guys said there good for 50hp I kinda doubt it. let me know what you guys think about the price on the blown motor and the cams. Thanks

Oh yeah motor had 63xxx on it and comes withALL accesories except a/c compressor

you're paying 500 for heads, intake and accessories? The block is gone, the rods need to go, you'll do forged pistons, crank is probably good though.. I don't know if I would do it or not.

and 50hp out of those cams? maybe on an engine dyno, not rwhp, those are little baby cams.

I wasnt going to JB WELD the block!!!! I was going to be looking for another shortblock. I wanted to put that motor together as a project being my first one. I now its stupid buying a blown motor but I find shortblocks that are practicly blown or on ther way out for about $600 ALL THE TIME on the forums so I wasnt sure how much a complete motor was worth. I have a pickup im wanting to do a conversion in.

So as a rebuilt the truck I wanted to rebuild the motor to put in it. I just wanted to see if you all thought it might be worth buying. I mean its got the LS6 intake being an 01 motor, not sure on what heads and all accessories so I figured it might have been worth it. I could also see if he'd take less.

I dont know if I told you this but my friend with the red 01 SS did the same thing. Drove though a puddle and blew his motor. Insurance gave him $6000 and hes buying the Speed INC Sportsman 348 package with only like $1500 out of his pocket.

If your looking for a cheap project to play with you might want to look into getting an LQ4/LQ9 and building off that. You can find complete ones for less than 2 grand and they have some go behind them?
