Plus there wouldnt be nearly enough room. Northerly island is pretty small. You might be able to fit the strip, but all the parking, staging areas, etc would be a problem. There is some parking there now for the beach, meseums, etc, but would you want to pay $16 for far parking or by the hour for something close? They even got rid of the firehouse that was there.

It would be a good place, but I think the city wouldnt allow it and it probably would cost tons of money to buy.

There is supposed to be a drag strip opening on interstate 39 near minonk or pontiac in Illinois. Should get started this spring as far as i have heard. That is 45 miles away from peoria.

I think it would have been great had they built a dragstrip where the old Glenview Naval Air Station was, but with land prices in that area I knew it would never happen.

Would've been nice though. For us guys in the near-north burbs, we don't have any close tracks. GLD is really my only option. I can't stand the drive to US41, haven't been there in years.

Richton park is looking for people to take care of newly aquired land. My dad is the village manager and a big gear head. i know if someone preposed(sp?) to build one they it would go over well. that and the fact its right off I-57, easy to get to and from. only if i had that kind of money
