Speed Inc are a bunch of THIEVES!!!!!! Every time I go there, I leave with an empty wallet. Those damn sales guys, always willing to take more and more money, always agreeing to sell me the parts that I asked for and that price matching, well thats just evil.

In other words, they are a good shop, and I would not hesitate to use them again. Now, if only they sold CCW wheels for the C6.....

I ordered my hooker catback from them december 3rd. I hadn't checked on it till the 13th (yesterday) when i started to wonder what was going on. I logged onto their site and checked the order status. It said that my order had been recieved, and that it was "either on backorder or being dropshipped". I shot them an email.

This afternoon i got the tracking number back from them after a phone call, and i also eventually got it back in the email. It looks like the exhaust was shipped last night.

Make of that what you will. Thats my experience.

Sorry for any Delays

If we can ship something we do, if we canned every manufacture that had us wait on something, we wouldn't have much to stock. Backorders inevitable for all companies. Tom keeps as many parts in stock as possible.

Its best to call or email us when your looking for specific parts, we can let you know if we have in stock or shipping date etc.

I have ordered just about everything for my car from speed inc and it has been nothing but a pleasure. Tom and Larry are honest and simply the best. I have had maybe two problems there and they were fixed almost as fast as it took me to send the email. Customer service is fricking dead in almost every business I have dealt with. Yet Tom and Larry have gone above and beyond to make sure I (the customer am happy). I'm sure there are other shops on here that are great but I would never hesitate to do business with Speed first!

I haven't dealt (directly) with Speed Inc. as a vendor, but recently purchased a C5 Z06 that had work (cam/exhaust/tune) done at Speed Inc. The front locking lugs were cut off the wheels and replaced with non OEM lugs (looked crappy, didn't allow use of the plastic lug covers). Key was in the trunk like every FRC C5, not sure what was up there. Left 2 bolts missing off the header brackets, and left the rear exhaust springs off the X pipe (rattling). And left a rather large oil leak from the front timing cover from doing the cam install. And a "suspect" re-used TTY crank bolt (can't verify this, other than it stripped on the way out and had to drill it out) I've spent the last few weeks "fixing" what was done to the car. It's taken a lot of my time to re-do.

They seem to have good feedback, and again directly I've never used them, but the previous owner wasn't impressed with the work, and having to tear 1/2 of back apart again, can't say I was either. Guess we caught one of their techs on a bad day...

IIRC, while ago their was a C5 customer who didn't provide us with the wheel lock, and to his discression; asked for them to be removed.

We purchase GM crankbolts in bulk for a reason, thanks for the accusation Theirs number of reasons why a crankbolt could strip as such, had you have aired your grievences with us and had us make repairs, the crankbolt would have been our problem. The C5 was purchased 2nd hand, how would you verify who touched it since us? We have no control over how you choose to remove a crankbolt.

hope this helps

Fair enough, no accusation, just said "suspect" as I said there's no way to verify.

Car had 1 oil change and column lock recall done at a local dealer a few thousand miles after above work, i have every service record on the car.

I replied to Larry (I don't feel my above post is BS, but thanks). I didn't *start* a thread on this, not out to bash Speed Inc, I'm not swearing or calling names, simply posting my experience in a thread where a poster asked about Speed Inc as a vendor, and what I else I found when fixing a timing cover gasket oil leak after a cam install.

This car was purchased knowing about the oil leak problem (I didn't mind fixing) but the purchase price probably reflected somewhat the upgrades done, so I'd say I have at least *some* say in how the work was done.

I have no "beef" against Speed Inc, not out to smear your name, simply posted my experience in what I found on my 01 a few thousand miles after said work was done by the previous owner.

It's a used car, no warranty, I do all my own work, so I do not hold you, or anybody else responsible for the car, for fixing this or that, or trying to rectify anything. I was/am totally happy with the car, just not so much the many loose ends found. Again, just posting my experience of work performed just a few thousand miles before I purchased it, from the fella that was asking about Speed Inc.

I don't feel I'm out of line?

yes...you have a right to speak and you have done so.

I just feel you should get more fax before posting a more neg post as you have done.

as Fraser mentioned : We buy crank bolts in bulk. The reason being as all know they are not able to be used twice. The last move we would ever make with the chance of it falling out and possible losing a motor.

column lock : well if the recall was done the the PCM would have to be reflashed.

- if we did reflash it then I am sure the customer would have noted the leak and we have fixed it while in for the reflash.

- I can only assume, but it had to have been retuned elsewhere or customer did bring it to us and never noted a leak

- or maybe there was no leak during the above present to be addressed. This in turn developed later which we still would have stood behind ....if again we where made aware of the issue.

The exhaust we would never leave the hangers off or as you mentioned it would rattle. We never experienced a rattle otherwise while being tuned or test driven we would have noticed. The orig. owner also would have complained.

not sure whats up with that ?

anyway... if needed we can talk more via email when I am back at the shop Monday

have a nice weekend

I was in town on business and talked to Jon for about two hours regarding the fuel system in my Formula. Between him and two other guys, we took a lot of time and got things figured out. They even sketched the **** down on paper and Jon gave me a list of all the fittings I needed. On top of that, I bought a fuel rail kit and he threw in no tax since they were having a free shipping deal going and I was from outta town.

Great shop, and I plan on going back next time I'm in town. No problems here

i buy all my parts from speed and every time i go in there i have dumbass questions to ask them and they treat me very well and are very helpfull. as for their craftsmanship i have no firsthand expierience, since i try and do all my work myself. but i would takke my car there. i may need a y-pipe made. or true dual setup and i will be asking them for a price. all in all good shop! kinda bias since i know some people there though haha

I'm not entirely sure if I should shake my head or laugh or maybe do both after reading drivenhard's posts.

I don't care if you have 400 sheets of paper given to you by the previous owner, you bought a modified used car, and then are posting negative things about the only shop that you were actually told about working on the car that are all guesses and speculation.

Tell me again how you know the guy that sold you the car didn't turn wrenches on it at all?

I ordered most of my suspension parts from speed inc. I cant be happier with the customer service and delivery time. I will definitly order from them again. I am doing my own "power tour" this year visiting 3 or 4 good shops in the area for research on my FI project and they are on my list to stop and visit. TT WS6.....
