Exclamation IL LS1 Owners.... Notice a drop in Insurance Rates??

Just wondering why the sudden drop in rates? Not that I'm complaining at all, it's a great thing, just unexpected is all. For quite a while now, I've been paying the same price for my '98 Z28 every 6 months. But the most recent premium was 12% lower.

Last ~4 bills: $470 (6 months)
This bill: $412 (6 months)

- State Farm
- Full coverage
- Over 25
- Married
- Very clean record
- Car regesitered just blocks away from Chicago city line

Funny part is, we're now paying slightly more to insure my wife's '04 Cavalier than the Z28! So much for F-bodies being high risk I guess.

Anyone else from IL/Chicagoland get lucky like this recently?

I think I'm paying around $390/6 mo. but that comes from being in my dad's name, with 7 cars, 3 snowmobiles, life and home owners insurance through state farm. Just dropped it back to Comp. only for the winter for a cool $97/6 mo. I think the SS is stayin in his name until I'm 25. Found out when I paid the insurance for my Saturn daily driver that my premium went for by $160 a year for over 3 years without a moving violation. Next car to add to the stable is gonna be a Vette hopefully in the coming summer, which I'm going to check out insuring in just my name for a good laugh.

I've got most of those discounts too; Multi-line, Multi-car (4 cars), accident-free. Mine would likely be about 10% cheaper yet if I didn't live so close to Chicago. I'll be moving soon anyway.

You're best off staying under your parents' name if you can till you hit 25. I was married before I was 25, so the drop wasn't nearly as big since just being married under 25 gets you a big drop. But still, the 25+ rates are MUCH cheaper.
