Default Snowboards

I need somebody to educate me on snowboards. I want to start but know nothing about them. I know they are size specific a lot like surf boards but I do not know about good brands and things of that sort. Any help would be appreciated.

I snowboard using Illuminati brand boards.. with tech 9 binding

www.ill23.com

its a snowboard company owned and ran by pro snowboarders.

when buying a snowboard first consider what type of riding you will do, freestyle, slalom, speed or just general park riding.

if its just general get a board that supports your shoe size and your height.

in regards to binding, make sure to buy binding that have METAL ratcheting straps, plastics ones always break!

thanks a lot. I will probably just start out with general park riding. Have you ever heard of this board and if you have what do you think about it? K2 Zepelin

Number one question is what size shoe do you wear? Board width is just as important as length. I worked in the ski/snowboard industry for over 10 years, feel free to pm with any questions you might have.

I'd go to a ski-shop or sports shop around you to see atleast if you're goofy or regular. Those two terms are based on the type of stance you have on the board. Forum snowboards are quality as well, the Zepelin is a quality board too.

If I were you, I'd go on ebay, buy an average board (Sims, Morrow, Original Sin, etc.) and some Drake F-40 bindings. Being new, you probably won't notice the difference between a $250 board and a $500 board. The bindings are inexpensive and tough as hell. For board size, I'd get a 153-155cm board. Here's my setup:

Capita Star Wars 158
Drake F-40's
DC pump boots

My spare is a 157 M3 with older Drake F-50's, and old 32 Peter Line pro model boots.

Or, on second thought: go to the-house.com and buy a complete board/binding/boots package. They sell last years stuff cheap.

Footnote: Booked my Colorado trip tonight, gonna be there for 5 days next month.

Good advice Baddog. The only I would differ on is buying boots on-line, you want to able to try them on as every brand fits a little different.

That's true JD, they are probably the most important part of a 1st setup... If they fit like ****, you'll be miserable.
