Default SOOOOO Happy

Well guys im EXTREMELY happy..I found out recently that i got the job i have been trying to get for a few months now..I start on the 29th of January. Im gonna be working for Vulcan Materials in McCook, and ill be a Quality Control Technician making $16.25 hour, and time and a half for OT..Not too bad for starting out i think..So i cant wait, im a little nervous, but its gonna be a good change for me, and its a great place to work and lots of room for advancement and everything. Sooo i may be getting some serious work done to the SS by summer time i hope..Im looking at maybe a built 6.0 liter motor and turbo kit, and possibly some new rims..but we will see..all in time, besides i need a truck..HAHA i cant wait..

Wasn't that the name of the company Dr. Evil had in Austin Powers?

Or was that "Project Vulcan"?

Either way, congrats. Remember, don't spend that $$$ before you make it!

Yea Local 150 is Operating Engineers. They do make some serious bank, a first years apprentice makes like 25 bucks an hour and once your a full on 150 you make upwards of 35 I think and they are always raising it. Best way though is probably to start in the laborers union and get to 150 that way since the apprenticeship program is nearly impossible to get into. Now is a great time though, there is more construction / asphalt, concrete production going on now than there has been in a long time.

LOL, I can't remember the last time I was happy about a job. Working sucks. Looking forward to early retirement!

On a side note, the very first position I held with my current company was in the Quality department, as a QA Inspector. That was easy work, I probably should have stayed in that department. I'd likely be a lot happier now.

WTF is that??? I got the 3% COL increase a few months back. It only took the whole shop bitching for about 6 months!

10% seems fair.

I'm getting closer. Won some cash on Little Lotto twice in the last two weeks. I'm starting to feel lucky for '07!
