I wonder if I need to go through emissions in IL?

Default I wonder if I need to go through emissions in IL?

Im not quite sure...i know that OBD I's are exempt in a way... but heres my car.


1979 trans am, but it has an lt1 in it. *scratches head* does anyone know the cut-off for cars which need emission testing and cars that dont?

If your car passed in the last test cycle, and it's a '95 or earlier, then you are no longer required to test. Only '96+ cars are now being tested in IL.

Here is a blurb from the IL EPA website:

Q. What vehicles are subject to vehicle emissions inspection?
A. All 1968 to 1995 vehicles not in compliance with the Vehicle Emissions Inspection Law of 2005 on February 1, 2007 and all 1996 and newer vehicles except diesel, electric-powered, and certain vehicles specified by law as Exempt.


So if you were in compliance as of 2/1/07, then you are all good. No more testing for you. Ever.

car's getting registered in a week or so haha...idk if its compliant. the car is originally from ohio...
