Exclamation Holy Hell! What the F@(% are they thinking?!

So on my way home from work today I notice an early 3rd gen Trans Am on a dealer's lot (Loren Buick/Pontiac in Glenview, IL). Looks pretty clean so when I got home I checked their website for details, and here's what I found:

1984 Trans Am
103,930 miles
$9,988

Holy ****! Nearly $10 grand for an '84 T/A with 100k+ miles? Damn thing isn't even a 15th Ann. package car, just a plain T/A. Don't get me wrong, I love clean 3rd gens (former 3rd gen owner myself) and I'd actually consider buying this car to mess around with if the price was something even close to resembling reasonable, but ****, ten grand?!

I've noticed that this dealer is always very high on any F-bodies they have on the lot, but this one takes the cake. I think I'll stop in there tomorrow and offer them $2,000 just to see what they say.

Here is a pic:

Wow, that's crazy! Maybe they're hoping someone from Glencoe with more money than they know what to do with will drive past...

I saw that car on Sunday during my cruise, I was torn as to whether it had 3900 or 103,900. There are some parts, like the seats that really could pass for 3900. Except for the cigarette burns. The underneath looks ok, not 100K Chicago miles for sure. But there was some rust on the body in weird places. I was really torn as to what the actual mileage was. Knowing the dealer it was at, I kinda figured that 3900 was a possibility since they always seem to have something rare or really old or just low mileage.
I never did check any further but I guess it is 103,900. That is a freaking ridiculous price for that car. Something has to be going on there!?!??!??????????

BTW did you see the Electra 225 they had inside, taking up half the showroom?

I saw something large, huge, and black in the showroom but didn't check it out further, guess that must be the Electra.

The '84 T/A does look clean for the age and mileage, but no where near $10k type clean.

There is a pace car third gen camaro here in Indy for like 10 LOL. Has miles to.

My 84 in my sig is worth money and I paid more then 10k for it BUT, its fully loaded and has less then 30k miles (good lucking finding another one) and its not EXACTLY stock. As in the seats are stock..... people that know the car or have seen it say its worth about 15k as it sits and I paid less then that.

That T/A is worth maybe 2k on a good day and its older so its a 305 car.

...their thinkin' they aint goina be selling that anytime soon!!

a local dealership has a 4th gen camaro in the lot, and they always ask a ton for F-bodies when they get them. I think I might pull in with my TA and ask them "how much for that beater over there?"

3rd gen prices are way up lately for clean ones, most have been rusted out and mulletized by now.

Not worth 10k but clean, unmolested 3rd gens are climbing in price. I'd say that it's worth $5000 or so if it's nice.
$2000 buys a ragged out shitbox with 150k miles.
