Im from Decatur and its a **** hole.. I now live in Springfield and its a expensive **** hole.. I was looking also to move to the Peoria area and came to the conclusion that the out skirts is the best deal there.. Morton , Pekin and so on.. I could be wrong but thats just my take on it.

Well said Steve; that had me almost rolling on the floor laughing.

Anway, coming from another Peoria native all my life I can say it really isnt that bad at all for crime. I have never had a problem. I would suggest looking into the outskirt areas; might be cheaper for you.

Well you could always try Kickapoo.lol I just like saying the name of that town. It's probably like 15 minutes West of Peoria. It's a really small town though. I always pass through it when going to Peoria because we take 150? I think it is. There's nice scenery between Kickapoo and Peoria too. A lot of rich people with horses and awesome stables.

I live in Brimfield right outside peoria about 10-15 minute drive. If you wanna talk about crime we don't have it. haha I have a friend in town that leaves everything unlocked and leaves the keys in the ignition of all his vehicles. I think rent on some of the houses out here are 400-500 plus utilities but their isn't much to choose from. Kickapoo gets pricey and then again its pretty much just ownership instead of renting, but there are a few.

Usually when anything goes up for rent or sale they tell me, since i do own the hardware store in town. I'll keep my eyes and ears open if you want me to.

I'm from Peoria. I've been here around 3 years. I actually live about 5 minutes away from the Grand Prarie Malls. The area is VERY nice. I leave my chevelle in the drive with the keys in it fequently. Of course there are rough areas in Peoria. You just need to come and drive around. If you are looking at an area in general let us know and we can give you pointers. Actually if you like short commuts the Kickapoo idea isn't too bad. Pekin would be roughly 30 minutes away. My girlfriend is from Pekin. It is a funny racist little town, but rather decent. If you are set on the Peoria area we can find you something. I'm sure bowtieman81 (Pete) and I could help you out. There are a few decent places to rent nearby as well if you wanted to do that short term.

First off i don't have a whole lot of experience with peoria, from what i hear it has some rough spots, not as bad as decatur, but a little worse than bloomington. point being no matter where you go you'll have bad spots (bloomingtons west side). I'm in bloomington a couple times a week and know the area fairly well.
That being said i would def. not live in bloomington and then commute to peoria- just way to far for my likings. I would check out the surrounding smaller towns if your not looking to be inside peoria. Germantown hills and Morton are nice places. Pekins alright, but nothing special. Morton also has the most car dealerships for a town its size i've ever seen, it's ridiculous. Its a pretty nice/wealthy area so i dont know how much housing would be.
