I am hoping that you are.

I am definately the under dog, I mean you SHOULD make atleast 100 more rwhp, and you are spraying 100 more hp then me so you should have 200 more rwhp and you have a nice stalled auto vs the M6. However I like being the under dog.

Oh and just a FYI mph dosn't win a race ET does. What was the ET on the 136 trap run?

It ran a 10.3 or 10.4 can't remember, that was with heavier drag wheels and far less sticky tires spinning. Also have done more suspension work since I bought the car and have more to do.

Car also has a forged steel DS that I would like to ditch it for a Dennys N20 aluminum one or something but may keep mine depending on what info I find out about it.

I have some power stuff going in still, still have yet to port the heads or intake.

I think a 9.9-9.8 on the smaller shot sould be pretty easy. Will be interesting on the big shot.

Are you going to be spraying a 150 shot?

Let me know if you need any help turning wrenches.

I honestly don't know what my RWHP is, honest. from what I can tell I think lower 5XXrwhp range on motor is pretty safe, that was on 7 cylinders but thats just an educated guess. Engine masters got like 627hp at the crank out of a fairly more mild 496.

Not sure I would ditch the driveshaft. Well, O.K., I would advise against it.
Although there are sponsors that swear by the aluminum, my Strength of Materials class guided me to a steel unit. Rotating mass (weight) aside, it just "don't add up" to pay for aluminum.

Being an aircraft structures guy I see your point. I think I will stick with it for now. I know it will not break hahaha at least I hope. Pretty sure its a 4 incher.

Well that would be true if they were manufactured the same, but they are not. Because in every case I have ever seen the AL. ds is a bigger diameter, which accourding to my statics and dynamics class makes a pretty big differenance

My head hurts with all this school talk hahaha.

What do you call a real shot?

My second stage has jets for a 300 shot right now if I remember. Thinking about spraying a 275 out of the hole once I get used to the car but Im keeping that a secret (when and what I am spraying)

I hear most LS stock bottom ends don't like a 200 shot for very long.

lies. it's all in the tuning. however, the crossover style intakes make it SO easy to lean #7 - that's almost always the cylinder that bites the dust. i've opted to combat this problem with forged pistons and a carb style intake

I cannot disagree about the diameter, but you have to consider the limitations of living under the fbody. For a given diameter, steel will always be stronger. Make the diameter larger, and aluminum can be as strong. But it just seems to me that you are trying to compensate. If you have a strong steel shaft, why spend more money to get an equal, if somewhat lighter, aluminum equivalent?
As long as you have a good driveshaft, 1350 u-joints, etc., spend the money on other go fast parts.
And AFA Statics and Dynamics, rotating mass is to be considered, but not as important as some seem to think, IMHO. I have seen this automobile, and IMHO other things should be modded first. And no, I will not race it with my little V-6 Firebird.
Best of luck, and don't let your head hurt too much, David.

Lies all lies, I will work my way up but it will probably be north of a 250 shot by mid summer. If it breaks then it just gives me a excuse to put some forged cubes in it and really make some power.

WOW and I thought a 200 shot was pushing it on a stock LS bottom end!!!! I can see it lasting on a 200 for a while but a 250+ means boom, don't think there is many if any factory pistons out there that could handle that.

It would be cool if it holds up, just make sure you have the fuel system for it. Race gas also

i think it will last for a while... ive seen one blow up and it had a bigger shot on it. spray wasnt what killed it. rpm did though. its all in the tuning

I have a few friends that have done 250-300 shots on stock motors with a fair amount of success.

I should have pleanty of fuel I am installing a racetronix fuel system for up to a 150 shot after that it will have a stand alone fuel system that pumps in pure race gas.

Fair amount? hahahaha

Yeah I have a stand alone system for the nitrous but both systems come out of the same tank.

Uprading my pumps before I spray it, motor one is bad and seeping fuel. Found out for like $30 more then what another blue pump would cost I can get a billet pump that flows like 40gph more.

lol, yep if it comes apart then I will have a excuse to put a forged cube motor with good heads and go for 500+ whp motor and a 300 shot on that.
