Yeah I know James broke one. BUT James had a ton of HARD miles on them with a big *** cam and who knows how many miles were on them befor he got the engine. People don't understand that once you put a big cam in your engine you have to maintain the valve springs. Even PAC springs will fail when neglected. Where did you see that they are only good for 6k miles? I've never heard that befor.

6 was an exaggeration, but I've read a lot of stuff with people saying that they start having issues with valve float after 10k miles of hard street driving (much like us Indianapolis guys do! haha)and I called Patriot myself and asked about a car with a cam as mild as the Torquer v2 and said no track time, street drivin only and he told me that I should change them before 20k.

i have a friend with a mild to smaller cam with 100k on patriot springs, no its not normal but i hear way more people have goodluck with them than bad. how agressive you cam is not just duration but ramp rate and so on have alot to do with spring wear. i will be installing patrion springs an mine some time this winter. my behive comps have over 20k on them.

I've heard more bad than good, but usually while doing a product review that's what you look for so that's probably why haha. I have the comp 918's on my car right now. I'm swapping them for a set of PRC's this month.

But, while some people have good luck with the patriot springs, some have bad. That is the case with any product. I personally don't plan on ever buying them for anything of mine. Just a personal preference.

I gotcha. I wans't trying to be a dick. I just didn't know if you heard something that I haddn't yet. Patriot springs IMO are great for the money. Like I said befor I ran mine to 7200rpm regularly without any issues and my cam is VERY agressive to say the least.

It's all good. Like I said. I've heard more good than bad about them so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents out there haha.

I know we get to go look at the stuff, but not everyone gets a chance to help out with setup (obviously). I know that I'll be going to watch when I'm not in class lol.

BTW, lol..

My .02, I will never use Patriot Golds Again. I broke 3 Valvesprings on my Z and the engine has yet to reach 3,000 miles. However the engine was said to have approx. 500 miles on it when I bought it. Which I do believe, b/c when I got the engine home and changed the oil, it still had RED assembly lube and grey material in the oil. So it was obviously LOW miles. After 2 oil changes 500-1000 miles in between, I have no more material in the oil. Engine oil is Clean as can be and runs GREAT! As many of you have seen first hand.
As for HARD miles, I will agree. I am not easy on my cars, Thats why I buy them- To beat on them. lol The only car I'm easy on is my DD and my RS. The girl gets on that car every once in a while to keep up with me on 31 , I rarely do... It's a V6 lol.
But as for the Patriots, to break 3 in less than 3k miles is STUPID!!! Regardless of how aggressive the cam, if I have to change valvesprings every 3k miles I'll pass on them

Just my .02

Would it be hard for me to track somebody down over there? I had a friend transfer there from stinkin tech because the high performance program at unoh is far superior to stinkins, and ive lost contact with him. Jw if there was a way I could find him over there

Wanting some suggestions on a cam choice for my sisters car.

Car 99 Camaro a4
full weight, Yank 3600, flt lvl 4, long tubes, LS6 intake and bolt ons.

Car is not daily driven but driven on nice days.

She really wants the "cam" sound. Want something not to hard on valvetrain and decent driveability (stall should clear up most anyways).

I am thinking TSP torquer or G5X2

car has been bottom 12's, I want a cam that can put it in the mid 11's.

I would contact PatrickG Jeff. He is very knowledgeable and can get you right where you want (or the car) to be.

as far as other fbodies, i have met two owners down there, roomed with one the last two years, and seen several others as well, including some pretty good looking blonde chick driving a black SS. another chick was driving a black lt1 style trans am last year havent seen her in a while though. saw a yellow camaro with black hockey stripes about a month ago. there is a facebook group now too not many domestics far as i can tell though.
