wanted a gto for a DD for the last few yrs and finally decided to get one. I found the one i wanted (2004 gto) and was going to buy it when the owner called me and said the trans (m6) just locked up. I know the guys at RPM transmission very well so this wasn't a problem with me. I told the guy I would take the car at the new low price and went to get it. When i got there i realized it wasn't the trans, it was a problem in the diff. I loaded the car on the trailer and got it home, the next day I started tearing it apart. I found the pinion was missing about half its teeth. I ordered a 05-06 diff and driveshaft, they should be here monday.
I will keep updating this thread. So far the car has a bullet cam and new valvetrain, ported intake and throttle body, jet hot coated pacesetters, 42lb injectors, 255 fuel pump, monster stg 3 clutch, B&M short throw shifter, true dual exhaust with bullets, drilled slotted rotors and a few other little things.

here are a few pics

here is the diff

some teeth in the housing lol

before and after

in the process

some pics of the gto

If anyone is looking for a G8 GT we just traded ours in at andy mohr nissan on lafayette rd. Has new tires on it, and had half the front end replaced under warranty.

Good luck with it should you want it, traded it for $22,000 so now ya know what they got in it if nothing else.

Got my B4C running finally, after some bad luck the last few weeks with the swap, we threw the 200k mile ls1 from another state police parts car in. We knew it ran and that it ran well when pulled. The thing runs great so far, 60 psi oil pressure, real smooth for 6 month old gas. Little hesitation once in a while, gonna run that gas out and swap fuel filters.

Small rear main seal leak it looks like, but Im suspecting the pcv could be stopped up and that pressure is finding its way out. Gonna check it out in the morning! If it doesnt fix it, Ill deal till trans comes out for a stall

ya something was definitely up when I saw that price, if its that rough around the edges..gotta wonder how it was cared for mechanically.

Nice pick up, I liked mine, when they get cheaper Ill get another for a DD. I assume you got a good deal with it in that condition? Not seen one eat teeth like that, usually a half shaft or inner stub breaks first.

Thought I could come here of all places to cry about this..So last night I was going down madison ave. and this 04' Mustang GT convertible, that had been messing with me by revving and crap while we were going through downtown, got next to me and did the three honks.Well..I know my car is very lightly modded (see my sig.) and its an LT1,but I mean this thing WALKED me..All I could tell he had done to his car was exhaust and it was a 6-speed,but by the looks of how he walked away from me,Im pretty sure he had some heavy mods lol..I'd never thought I'd see the day a mustang of all cars hands it to me though..Cant wait for this 383 build this winter

BTW,that GTO is sick!

Maybe it was cammed? And no disrespect, but it's not like you're that heavily modded.

Anyone in the indy area have an wideband gauge to verify mine? Would be greatly appreciated

If not Im gonna pick this up, think it will work with hptuners as well in case I start tuning it myself down the line.

Anyone running a yank ss series converter? 3600 or 4000 preferably, stuck between the two. Would be a bolt on car for a few years I think. Then a cam like the tv2 or similar down the line I think.

Custom stall speed? per yank they dont make a 3800 in that series? I would be all over a 3800.

Im leaning toward the 3600 right now I think since I talked to Dave at Yank yesterday. Since I dont go to the the track but a few times a year and it spends most its time on the street. Itll stay bolt on only for ahwile as well.
