Bp 93 ... I only goto 3 pump BP's cause if you goto a 1 pump gas station for all you no that pump that was just used was by a person using 87 or 89. that line goes all the way down to the ground and holds 7 gallons . so if a person used 87 then the first 7 gallons that come out is 7 gall. then whatever you paying for is coming out next. My tuner told me that cause he had tons of cars coming in saying they put bp 93 in and it was showing up different. So he told me BP 3 pump 93

Actually thats not true. Doesn't go straight to the ground, In the pump are three recievers, one for unleaded, one for plus and one for premium. The most you get from the person who pumped before you is .25-.5 gallon. My father (a mechanic, maintenance and driver for 25+ years for an oil company) used to service pumps of all kinds, mainly tokheim pumps. There may be one hose, but there are still three receivers in the pump.

Interesting, but makes sense. They do audit/inspect the machines, and I would imagine this was once an issue.

Not only is it inspected by an county clrek auditor, it is usually supposed to be inspected by maintenance people for the company.

Shell, BP, or Mobil

They are the only stations around me that sell 93. All other stations are 91 or 92 for premium.

Actually thats not TECHNICALLY accurate. Yes, gas is gas(per octane level), however some of us go to different companies more than others because of where the gas comes from.

Personally, I use BP because BP uses American oil, and American refineries.

I read in an email I got a few months back that some companies that you wouldnt expect, are actually using foreign oil. The email gave two major examples: Marathon and Shell. The email gave other names, but these are the two that stuck in my head the most.

Now, because I cannot completely confirm the claims made by the email, I'm not going to sit here and "bad mouth" either company. However, 9sec93 confirmed the email's claims about BP to be true.

Also, some people may go out of their way to go to another station because the closer stations have bad reps for issues with water in the holding tanks.

Sorry if i'm digging up an old topic that has fallen past page one, just wanted to put in my $.02

C'mon, I want to see the NJ guy jump off the bridge.
Barring that, I don't have preferences for my DD. Swifty if I have the cash, because it is 5 cents per gallon cheaper. Thorntons also seems to have a decent price.
For the Formula, Sunoco first, BP second. Most others I avoid. However, since I am now running methanol , that may change, who knows. Only time will tell.
AFA the water in the tanks, here is the deal: All tanks have water and refuse at the bottom. When the tanker fills them, it gets stirred up. After a passage of time (24 hours seems safe) it has settled down again. So if you pull up to a station and there is a tanker there, leave. And avoid most stations around them, as they tend to fill all the stations in the area.
