Open face helmets?
Jimmy
Just got an email from one of the tech guys at 66. He was reminding everyone, NO exceptions on full face rule & visor. But we all know how some tracks are!! Maybe someone from each track is on the site & can post??
.
I got a full face just for saftey. I would hate to get class in my eyes or metal flying around and end up in my face.
I know ORP lets things go untill you get quicker then your average street car. From what I hear they get on you once you hit 11.60 or whatever the roll bar rule is now. Helmets are pretty much a must but I don't think they have to be full faced for the slower cars.
I doubt they will let much if anything slide at 9.9 or faster.
New rule for this year, so many pro guys were wearing open face last year.
My 2 cents is I don't want something come loose & hit my eye or face, as juiced said.
I also know a dumbass that ran 9.88 at 41 with no cage, no suit.

EDIT: I just saw John's reply. Here is the official rule; page 107 of the rule book:
"For all 9.99 and quicker closed-bodied cars, a full face Snell M2000, M2005, K98, K2005, SA2000, SA2005, SFI31.2A, or 41.2A helmet mandatory; shield permitted ( goggles prohibited)"

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
when you can buy $100 helmet from HJC that has the same certification?
what am i missing?
at what point MUST a racer go from the M2005 rating to an SA2005 for example?
*edit* i may have found the answer to the question
a motorcycle style closed face helmet can be used up until 7.50 then you have to have the SA cert.
