Default Illinois Emissions

I'm moving to Bartlett at the end of the month and I'm curious about how strict the emissions test is. Any visual or mirrors under the car to look for cats???

I took my car to be tested at the Waukegan station this past month and all they do is plug it in and if it's not throwing codes you get your pass sheet. It's pretty funny driving into the test station and the whole building fills with the sound of a cammed car and the smell of fuel.

I'd like to thank whoever came up with the idea of testing the computer only. Sniffers FTL.

i am pretty sure when i got my first emissions test on my first car, a 94 grand am gt, they did the whole 9 yards. hooked the vacuums up to the pipes, went around the whole car with mirrors, hooked up to the computer. then with my camaro i was in and out in 5 minutes the last time i went in. plugged up to the computer and it was out the door.

They updated the laws and now 95 and older cars don't have to have their emissions checked.

For a 2001, it will be an OBDII diagnostic check. As long as your cars isn't throwing codes all will be good. Just had my 02 Berger tested, and need to get the 00 ragtop done soon.

i've got my headers and exhaust sitting in the garage, waiting for the stimulus check to come so i can install them. i was hoping i would have to get my car tested before i installed them that way i don't have to worry about it for while.

I specifically asked the head guy at the facility in Joliet and he said as long as no codes are on that is all they care about. They don't care if you have headers, exhaust, etc.....No Codes = No Problems!!!
