Default How Big Can I Go

i need to know how big of a cam i can put in my car with stock heads. is a ms4 oe ms3 to big. i have a 99 Z28 can u help me find out something and what all would i need to do to my car with cam only?

No. You can do an MS3/4 or Trex if you want. You will not get everything out of it that you could be, but it would work. If I planned on keeping stock heads/cam I would do a custom grind and prolly go no bigger than a 23x/23x.

EDIT: Unless your just looking for that sexy loping sound. Then an MS3 or 4 is nice.

MS3/4, Trex, Vindicator, G5x3/G5x4, are all great, BIG, cams. They'll all work with stock heads. Things you'd definitely need to go a long with it are valve springs and push rods. We usually recommend that you change the timing chain, and oil pump at this time as well. Then there's all the gaskets you'll need replaced, along with the fluids. Plus you'll need it tuned with cams that large, because they will not run on a stock program. Then if you're an automatic you'll definitely need a higher stall converter with a cam of those sizes. We had a special on cams running last month, everything including labor and tune starting $1700, up to $2200 with upgrades. Give us a call and I'll see if I can still honor that.
