Damn. I am just a e4p looking for a good place to advance my career once I leave hawaii. I will be a e5p by then unless something bad happens, any suggestions? I do not have any strategic training either, doubt it makes a big difference though.

Make SSG and go Drill Sergeant. Best move you can make if you plan on staying 20 hands down. Most recognized accomplishment out there if you have a successful tour and will get you above your peers.
I have no doubt that's what got me to MSG and maybe SGM.
I take it you have been to the sandbox already.

88m20P. If you are looking at either 88M or 63B, there are plusses to both. The 88M isnt a hard job at all. Strap, fuel, and haul ***. The 63B doesnt see a whole lot of road time and doesnt spend much time in danger. But on the downside, Army equipment sucks. So does their tools, and most of the time so do their mechanics. 63B's are some of the most overworked guys in the support side of the Army. Sometimes a truck needs to be fixed reguardless of how long its going to take. If you are mechanically inclined, you might become a great asset to the 63B field. The downside for 88M is lazy people and the danger involved. 40% of deaths come from IEDs. Hope this helps. Just finished a 15 month tour. My company drove over 3 million miles.

lol in both of my deployments with trans units i spent most of my time out on the road. Each convoy that we sent out had a mechanic with them. We were driving 915's army freightliners

I agree with that.... 63B and 52D are overworked... Honestly... the unit I am in an STB here in Korea... 1st Platoon (motorpool) do it all... we will set up the Maint... the LSA , ALL sleep tent... give power and drive sorry *** mother ******* **** cuz they are too damn lazy to drive...then pull SOG... ****** dig holes and some other **** as well. While the CSM comes and says doin a good job keep it up... ok CSM tell me why my soldiers and I are digging ****** fighting positions 12-15 hours a day and for the WHOLE excersize...then tear down and not use them... you dick and ur a 63 ur self and the 1sg too holy **** dont get me goin .. well that is soon to be changed...cuz I am now a Master Driver LOL **** em and feed em beans you douche bags... I love the look of a SFC or MSG when they come back 10-15 min after handing out 5988s on a monday and I dont accept them....

Damn dude. Quit making mechanics look like douchebags. I always took it as a matter of pride that my guys and I worked hard. My guys knew that their bitching stopped with me but they also knew that I took care of them, fought for them and looked out for them. Maybe you should talk to your boss before you run your mouth and make yourself look retarded.
First of all it isn't your CSM or 1SG's job to dig fighting positions, i'm pretty sure they have dug their fair share of foxholes in their time and now have worked their way up the NCO support channel to the point that they are not required to do these sort of things. Also keep in mind that when they were privates the army wasn't as soft as it was today and the details they pulled were probably a lot worse than the crap you or your soldeirs whine about.
I hope yu don't rant like this in front of your subordinates, as an NCO you should know better.
