It took me two months, I got promoted at the end of basic for eing soldier of the cycle. But I think normally you make your e2 at 6 months, e3 at 1 year, e4 at 2 years. Those are all the normal, not waivered timeframes.

I was 11B2P until I broke my back on a jump an got med re-classes to a different MOS (I requested to stay in, I have x-rays on my cardomain site). I have to artifical disc in my lower back, what screws me over is PT test. All that I do is the 2 1/2 mile walk, so I really get no promotion points for PT.
As far as combat MOS not being able to take college courses is "BS"... You have online college that you can take now. I know for a fact that you are not out in the field all the time. So dont give me that.
For MOS that is always maxed out all the time, I dont get it with the Army wanting most of the Division going to a 4th Brigade. Right there is open slots for more soldiers in those Units...

I am in a fucked up unit. I have been owed an AAM for 4 months, my good conduct for 6 months, a COA (lol it is my fourth, 5 points!) for 5 months.

Another thing that is killing me is the last PT test I took was with a tore knee. I was pissed that they were making me take it so I did the bare minimum in each event. Little did I know my MRI results would come back not so good and right now I am dealing with physical therapy and have already been told my knee wont heal.

And lack of civilian education. Cant blame that on anyone but myself really.

I am maxed on military ed, maxed on weapons, got 296 from the board and commander points.

My cutoffs have been sitting mid to high 600's, they just dropped really low (624 is really low lol) Unless the points take a nosedive im stuck like chuck.

Take your arrts transcripts in to the local colleges and see what they will give you. It may not be much depending on mos but its better than nothing.

And yes you guys that have been in a few years have no excuse for not going to school, especially when TA will cover it and you can put gi bill $$ in your pocket.

Yup. I got 19 hours just from my ARTS transcript at a 4 year college. One of our other guys got 83 hours at a community school.

How exactly do you go about getting your ARRTS transcripts?

Nevermind, I asked before I just used google.

So all you have to do is call a college and say, "Hey, can you give me some credits for this?"

If the knee is going to be a very long term thing and you can do the bicycle test you might want to consider getting a permanent profile. Hear me out:
-It will keep you out of high impact stuff until your knee is better. It will get you a level of protection from doing things that would make it worse.
-It will give you a max of 60 points for the alternate event but you can max out your situps & pushups and still be at 260 which will keep most people in your company pacified.
-For promotion points, they average your score for the other 2 events and use that as your pt test score. In other words, max situps & pushups and your promotion points pt score is looked at as a 300.
-You can request the permanent profile be reevaluated at any time if you are confident you can go back to running, and you are on your way.

I had to use it to satisfy the pt test requirements and still continue to get my knee back into useable shape. I went from NCOs upset that I didn't have a pt test on record for quite a while to giving them a 260 which is keeping them (and senior NCOs) happy.

Not sure if OCS is waiverable for a permanent profile but WOCS and WLC are so even if it is really permanent it is workable.

Wow, this guys recruiter didn't do his job...

Man, and I thought the AF had a jacked up promotion system. Now I'm pretty damn happy with it... God help you if you are a bad test taker though.
