My heart and prayers are with the families.

Some one tell me what is the Readiness Building? Being reported it happened there...if it's accurate.

It was a Soldier Processing building. All the soldiers on the post will go through that building when they get transferred to/from the installation.

12 confirmed dead, 27 wounded. How sad...

Looks to be over with finally except the aftermath. Thought & prayers go out to the victims & other innocent soldiers stationed there currently.

My sister works on the base on the contractor and she has been texting and e-mailing me the last couple of hours. They won't let her make a call.

New info:

NBC News’ Pete Williams reported that U.S. officials identified the gunman as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist who had been promoted to major in May. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, R-Texas, said military officials told her that the gunman, who was 39 or 40, was about to be deployed to Iraq and was “upset about it.”

It just goes to show what we are doing to our soldiers. "1 year to recuperate and stay home" isn't enough. It's been 5 years since I was in Afghanistan and that **** still sticks with me. And I didn't even see combat! You can't erase those memories and those chemical changes that effect the brain.

It's a tragedy.. prayers to all effected.
