Watch out for the flies. These little bastards are brave. You'll be talking to someone or somking a cig or whatever and they'll land on your face and just walk around. If you try to swat them away they won't leave you alone, it just gets worse. I honestly think it is a game for them. I know they are this way in Kuwait and here at Ali (Tallil) can't speak for the other places in Iraq, but I'm sure they're the same way.

I have been in Balad Iraq(LSA ANACONDA) for 19 months. It got down to about 20 degrees last winter. It has yet to get down below 45 yet...Bt it's going that way.
If your coming over as KBR you will get a hooch withing 2-3 weeks, pending were your at. It is getting to be rainy season, have only had 2 showers here so far, nothig to worry about, and not muddy(YET).......
The sand storms suck, but they usually last just a few hours, sand boogers are great!!!
We have a couple of gyms here in post, so if yourlooking to work out and get into shape or maintain what ya got, easy to do......
12hr shifts, 7 days a week, and a couple of paid holidays. Time goes by quickly once you get into the routine.
What is your job title going to be?
Hope this enlightens you a lil more.....Later

I hated it when alllllllllllllllllll the army would come over to the air force gym... the gym is like the size of my apartment building. Midnight chow sucks horrilbly as well. I liked the trailers tho...good ****. Oh yeah lobster and shrimp dinners every sunday!

Power generator mechanic. My friend is going as a small arms mechanic. We will both be going to work for lear siegler. Hopefully we can get the same location.

What about cell phone services? I have T-mobile right now, and they told me to purchase pre-paid minutes(comes out to 10 cents a minute), they also made my phone international and would work there.

Well i was just at FOB Speicher and Warrior which was in the north central part of Iraq for the last year and from what i've been reading so far, everyone here is on the mark as far as the conditions go.
Chicks on the base are "desert queens" and can be had!
Internet capablities suck!
Phone service sucks too ( **** YOU AT&T)
No beer
All the near beer you can drink though.
Just pray you get a decent PX and you'll be ok
