it looks like I will be heading to hood in a few months. I don't think I will fall in love with the field but ya know I raised my right hand and I do what is expected plus a little or atleast try to. so if that is what happens then I will be alright with that. plus I am expecting lots of field time. to train up. ya know and thats allright cause I will be needing it.

The two years after that weren't too different, until we did tank turn-in for the SEPs, gettin ready for Iraq. I can think of a few places I would rather have been besides Hood.
Agree. I was in the Hood nearly 4 years. Good place to soldier, you just drive out the back gate and you can hit the ranges or maneuver area. Lot more space to maneuver and you didn't have to rail load like you were going to Graf or Hohenfels. However, Killeen is ghetto and I hated that city. It's a stereotypical military town: shady used car lots, shadier pawn shops, shadiest "pay day loan" places, fast food joints, and just crap. I love soliders and I especially loved MY soliders, but you couldn't go to a club because the 10% of soldiers who are problem children would be there boozing it up and trying to cause trouble. I ended up going to Austin probably the 1-2 weekends a month when I wasn't racing at TAD.

Evil Angel My '01 SS
I just finished a two-year deployment there in Fort Hood, TX. Once you get stationed there its hard to leave. I have heard people PCSing from 4th ID to 1st Cav. I spoke to one person there who had been there seven years. As far I being stationed there I guess it depends on the unit you are assigned to. I was there with my guard unit, an MP Co, and the only good thing that came out of it was I bought my '01 Camaro while I was there. A plus to being at Hood is Austin is only about an hour or so away.

hey, Hood is a lot better than Bliss I am a former artillery man and at least Hood had some cover. But one of my faverate post was FT. Wainwright. But Ft. Sam Houston does kick butt. Especially with SAFB around.

I think so, but I not too much into border towns. I like mexico, just not the border. Plus around hood you have more F-body people near because you are in the central part of texas and are a few hours of just about any event. Not that El-paso is bad, just my honest opinion.
