I love the way I did it... first 4+ years 11B... kick in doors, sniper, LRRSD, etc. Then re-enlist for computer MOS and do 3 more... get out and make good money

But... my favorite MOS was 8511 and 8563 (and not the current designation of MCIWS... I'm talking WSSI. Much harder than MCIWS)! Now there's some fun. Hard as hell, but fun!!

USMC 2146 Tank Mechanic

8563 MCIWS in 2001, it has changed even more since then and become even more relaxed with the school, will become a 'T' when I return from Iraq.

Then AF Reserve Bio Med Tech that lasted a year before I couldn't stand not being with Marines anymore.

Forced lat move to 2651 but got stuck on Recruiting Assistance w/out proper training but a quota, 8411, kinda I guess then.

Got over to Lejeune was working as the SACO for the Battalion but hated it and talked to the monitor and got back to my roots.

Presently am now 2146 again, back with Tanks and in Iraq and loving every minute of the grime and filth.

I don't think I would ever want anything else, but as the years go on I do think a lat move may be a good idea. Getting something a little more tangible in the way of civilian workforce would be good I believe.

I loved my job, EOD, for the longest. Of course, playing with bombs wears you down so after 10 years I punched out last november. Never wanted to do anything else. Did some nice paying contract jobs for a bit and now I just sit on my *** and collect unemployment...

0231 my whole 4 1/2 years ...it was alright but was in the process of lat-moving into the 0211 field because of my middle eastern background
That all got halted when I got sent to Kuwait and then Iraq.

If I ever go active again, I'm going to try to get lined up for MSG duty.

For those that think grunts/infantry is "THE job" to have, I love that phrase "easy to be hard, hard to be smart" :p

I like my MOS now. I was a 31U (now 25U). Now I'm a 33W. I fix MI systems. Great clearance, and good enough training to help get a nice job when I get out. I just need to go get my certs and I'm good.
