Don't hate him because you wanted to be a grunt. If you're on your ****, you'll get promoted fast in the grunts. if you're average, you'll get promoted when time is due.

and from my understanding, all you're guaranteed for Recon is a try out. so if he ***** it up, he could wind up being a field cook.

I was assigned to 2d Recon out in Lejeune. I was an open-contract supply guy, and I totally hated my MOS, so I went to work for my Company 1stSgt and CO, then went on to be in the color guard, which was pretty kick ***. Then I got to go to Iraq and be in the BN CO's PSD (Personal Security Detail) and be a VC/MK-19 gunner.
Anyhow, a few of my friends tried out for RIP, and from what they said, and the way they hobbled around the barracks in the evenings, it sounded pretty hardcore. For every guy that makes it through RIP, they drop about ten. Swimming and all-day thrash-sessions are gonna be daily routines for him. This dude ought to have his work cut out for him.

do you know what "GRUNT" stands for, actually?

Also, ..say.. motor T for instance, the cutting score for LVS Operator (3533) was closed, or in the 1700's forever, it just finally came down into the 16's
