Default In Tech for E&E at Sheppard

Was supposed to get here on 15-Jan, didn't get here until 22-Jan because of the weather

Anyone here for tech or based here? I'm hoping to get my TA here in about 2 weeks after I hit Phase II. Any advice?

Thanks!

I remember that sonic when I was there last back in 01 (visiting) was born there and my family lived in the hose closest to the main gate on base LOL.

I spent my time in the Marine Corps but I'm a civilian now. About half the guys in the group are stationed at Sheppard.

haha. Well I got lucky, I got the new dorms. 2 per room, walk in closets, personal bathrooms, etc. They are really nice.

I won't know my PDS for probably another 2 weeks.

You got mega lucky. I had 2 roommates, a tiny closet, crappy beds, a bathroom that made the whole hallway smell. Made the best of the time I had to spend there and rolled out. I found out my first week of class where I was getting orders to, let us know where you end up.

Headin to Eglin, whitels1? Went TDY there last February and holy crap that base is farkin huge....

I was there back in 00 and it was pretty fun as a tech student but its changed a lot since then. We used to have mad partys all over the place. Then when I went back for 7 level last year....WOW, that place blows. There isnt **** there. And this is coming from a guy stationed at Dyess in Abilene.

Definitely live it up there. There is so much extra stuff to do at a base that size it's crazy. I was unfortunately stuck there a week, miles from everything with no GOV to putz around in which made off duty entertainment slim to none. Could be worse, you could be at Cannon Good friend I work with got here from Osan last year and he said even at it's worst, Osan far exceeds Cannon's best. Good thing we're leaving soon

Yeah, go to Maximus!! Or stay away from it, however you look at it.

When I was at Sheppard for tech school back in 92 there was this taxi van with a TV in the back. As long as there were no females in the van the driver would always pop in a **** tape while we rode to the mall. Somehow he was quite popular on base whenever someone needed a taxi LOL.

Haha. Well I got more info today. I start class tomorrow (30-Jan), and should graduate on June 7th. I'm then scheduled to PSC to Charleston AFB, SC. I've never been there but hear it's pretty nice, so I dunno. I'm assigned to the 437th maintenance sq, so I'll probably be working on C-17s. Anybody know what the deployment rate/location of 437th is, and how Charleston AFB is in general to live at?

(Oh btw I'm getting my TA up here to Sheppard on 2/9, woohoo!)

Sheppard is nice... Close to DFW and a couple of race tracks... One in Kennedale and one in Ennis. I wouldn't mind being station either at Sheppard or Dyess.

We are closer to more race tracks than that. There are 4 tracks in and around DFW alone. We also have a track here in Wichita Falls, and another one about 45 minutes North in Lawton, OK.

You are so lucky to be going to Charleston, I wish I could get stationed there. I'm E&E also, working F-16's at Spangdahlem. I'm suppose to be PCSing in June if the AF will ever release the EQUAL list. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions about the job. I dont know that much about the C-17, but what I hear thats where you want to be.

Charleston Deploys like crazy. I'm in the Deid right now with some Charleston guys. Elen is a good career field but you will be busy as **** on this plane. It's an electrical nightmare. These guys work their ***** off over here. I was just down in Charleston for some training. It's a pretty good base and downtown Charleston is the ****. You should like it there.

I'm happy for you, Josh. My car has been in the paint shop for the last few weeks so I kinda know how you have been feeling.
