Getting out of Marine Corps soon...
Got about 4 months left then I'm moving back home to Texas. Planning on going back to school and getting a job. Anyone else in my situation?

I got out of the Army about 4 months ago. Best advice I can give is to have a resume ready and start hunting before you are even out. Ensures you'll be able to find a job.
Also, don't accept that one job will come thru either. I'm in the boat where a company was suppose to have hired me already and they are still negotiating their contract with Uncle Sam. That was suppose to be done already. So I'm out looking for another decent job and they are hard to find.
Finding any 'ol job is easy. Finding a good company and position is a lot harder. If you have any skills that are applicable to a field, pursue your certs on top of your experience.

Have a plan!!! Start right now. I've heard a lot of guys say they plan on going back to school but have not made the right preperations. Stop by your Joint Education Center or see your education officer. Every unit has got one. Also, It wouldn't hurt to attend some job fairs. It's a good way to get some networking in and it's better to give a person your resume than just sending it to some HR representative. I got out 2 weeks ago and the day after I went right back to work on Pendleton as a contractor for General Dynamics. I wouldn't have got that job if I did not plan and find out what was out there for me. Oh ya, if you haven't done so already, get the MGIB kicker.

I just got on terminal about a week ago. In the Atlanta Area. Still feeling it out. Don't want to jump on the first thing that comes up. I just need something to pay bills while I go to school. So It looks like were all in the same boat.

I may get flamed for saying this, but....
there is always the option of using the GI bill for college then coming back in on the O side of the house. THe Marine Corps always needs pilots.
I realize that enlisted life might not be the greatest, but I love my job as an officer and as a pilot. Just some food for thought.....

Heres how stupid the Marine Corps is. They stress that they are sooo short on bodies and stress how important it is to get re-enlistments up. They slated me for recruiting about 9 months before my eas. I declined them, seeing as they are a 3 year tour. So, I received an re3 re-enlistment code. For not taking orders I didnt have enough time on contract to complete. I would like to stay in, but recruiting is not my thing, and I dont feel I would be good at it. But, thats my only option to stay in. So **** them in their stupid asses. They even try to strong arm you from going in other branches with the ******* re3 code...to make you look like a peice of ****. **** them. The army recruiter is where Im heading next....if they can get around the ******* code I got. I hope nobody ever reenlists again. They can stick their 10Gs up their asses.

I'm EASing Dec 8th myself after 2 enilstments... some bad paperwork and all included, I'm not gonna lie... but its been the best years of my life, I'm sure of that. the 'Corps has set me up to be far more succfell than I would have been if I hadnt joined

no... they're ******* him. that's how an re3 code works. and if he can't get a waiver from another branch, he'll be fucked until he takes those recruiting orders..
i would have told them sure. i'll take the orders. but i'm not extending for them.

LT Malice- Using the GI bill and coming back is an option for me. We will have to see I guess. Civilan life feels pretty good. And I was only on terminal for 16 days. Now i've eas'ed.
My brother is a recruiter. He asked for those orders. He hates life now. While on terminal I went down and hung out with him for a few days. Forget that mess. 12+ hour days. And it doesn't matter how many guys you put in the months before. You don't have someone in by the first phase line in the month they treat you like ****. I don't blame you for getting out insted of those orders. But if I were you and I wanted to stay in... I would have requested DI or MSG.
