Red flag, no matter what they call it, is an exercise, not a deployment though.

i personally think, that it's not a deployment unless you leave the states. if you go to 29palms for a CAX (combined arms exersice) for 6 weeks. that's the field. if you go to Yuma for WTI, that's the field. if you go to Oki on a UDP for 6+mo, that's a deployment. if you come to the largest CAX in the world, in the largest **** hole in the world, for 6+mo that's a deployment.
if you're on that MEU, and you're stopping at various places, that's still the same deployment. whether you're killing Hadji's or helping tsunami cleanup effors in asia.
Westpac, Med float, etc.. deployments..
going to Biloxi, MS for schooling, or training, not a deployment.

Good Lord! I didnt realize there was so much AF in here! Guess im just prediposed to assuming that the army is omnipresent. Currently on my second deployment since Iraq kicked off, 1st was 15 months with the greatest combat force ever known in galactic history...the 1st Cavalry Division, 2-12cav as an 11c infantryman, now im with the crap-tastic Stryker brigades, 4-2ID, 1-38In. Now I have my own mortar section and get this-WE ARENT ALLOWED TO KILL HADJI ANYMORE!!!..............sorry.
This one is supposed to be 15 months as well, wish I could lay hands on some of those 4-7 month deployments!

well zmonster at least you get to live the high life at liberty. if it makes you feel any better there are some 2-12 guys here at falcon. where is 4-2id? its hard to keep up with all the changes the army has been making.
