Default Woohoo!!! Off to Curacao baby!

Just found out I'm heading out to Curacao in October for a short deployment of 3 months or so...anybody make it out there? Fun times I imagine and looks awesome. Just looking for some input from anybody that has gone there

I got back two months ago...and yeah it is bittersweet. It is nice money and it's not the sandbox, but it is my 5th deployment in 6 years, and the third in the past 2 years.

Iguana's are everywhere, the plantlife reminds me of Arizona (desert cacti) and the downtown area is really bright. The buldings are painted bright colors like pastel pinks, blues, etc... It was pretty cool. I was able to find a restaraunt that made an AWESOME steak. They also have a Wendy's there, but I was drunk when I found it, so I can't give any directions, but I know it was there as it was the first "real" fast food I had on my deployment. Oh, and everybody comes out later on during the night. And I met quite a few South Africans there. Don't know if that is relavant, but that is what I rememeber! I've heqrd there is an awesome go-cart track there with really fast carts you race. That is un-substantiated as I never found that place.

Yeah you will get sick of eating at Dennys. I don't remember seeing a Wendys but there are a couple of McDonalds' there and a Subway as well. There is a drag strip on the island but it is mostly imports. The hotel is mostly all military and there are some good looking chicks at the Tango Bar. You will find that no one on the island is in a hurry to do anything. A couple of places to hit if you are into drinking are I Carumba (I suck at spanish and know the spelling is wrong) on Tuesday which is $6 for a dixie cup and all you can drink for an hour. You will want to get in good with a waitress named Stephania there and she'll hook the drinks up. Check out Mambo/Wet-N-Wild anytime after 11 PM because that place gets crazy. Soparnos is a nice place to kick back if the party scene is too much. It's a piano bar and the guy playing is pretty good. He's got a huge list of songs to choose from. There is also a Dutch bar called Nacht Wacht that is okay, they have happy hour from 9-10 on Thursday. There are usually a lot of beautiful Dutch girls there but the place is crawling with Dutch Marines. After their happy hour most go to Sinco which gets packed also after 11 PM. Most places don't really pick up until after midnight and usually go until 4 or 5 in the morning.

Not if you were here on my ship! WAY to many things to fix from the last guys that let **** slip, and I'm taking a beating for it everyday with the COC. On top of that, I can't seem to find the time to fix the problems because of more ship exams. This sucks. I need to deploy SOON!

I know how it goes, All the ships I have been on have all been the same. But being in the Rate that I am in... Its pretty cake. When something breaks fix it, and who ever you fixed it for is pretty much at your service until you see other wise. We get the best food, all the ac or heat that we need, no waiting in lines, its a cake walk. Lol
