What's up man I am a ARMY Recruiter you said you have signed alot of papers to prepare to go into the Air Force. Sounds like you have not been to the Military Entrance Processing Station no matter what the Recruiter tells you you are not in any branch of the military until you swear in the second time. Sounds like to me you are getting medical records for your leg so that they can submit them so you can take the physical to see if you are physically fit for Military service. The reason that you are going to have to wait so long to go to basic is because the USAF only has one Basic Training location in Texas I believe plus it just depends on when the training slot will be open for your job. Same with the USMC since your in the Eastern US you will go to Paris Island and the USMC only ships to basic twice a year also depends on the jobs training slots. Kinda the same as the USN. The ARMY is a little different they ship people to basic in as litlte as 1week and sometimes give a quick ship bonus which is not available at this time but you can also push your ship date back if you want to also depends on the training slots. All branches have SPEC OPS just depends on what kinda SPEC OPS you want to do. Also when decide what you want to do let your Recruiter know as soon as possible because it is alot of work to get someone in the Military and if you join and back out and change branches then it causes him alot of headaches I mean alot. Just make sure you get everything in your contract up front like I tell all my applicants you only get 1 first enlistment make it count because you only get one. Good luck and thanks for you future service. PM if you have any questions.

Just DO NOT rush your decision on what branch you want, Think long term, years ahead. Ask if waiting a little bit is worth a few years of something you didn't want. I am a SSgt in the AF and I enjoy it but I know people who got frustrated in the DEP and changed branches and were unhappy.

you could depending on whats available. it would be a pain in the *** and would delay your ship date to bmt.

the afsc u have is a good job from what i hear.

you can do whatever you want before you arrive at basic, just tell your recruiter you want to change your AFSC, if they deny you, tell them your not joining, as long as you dont raise your right hand, your still good

I dunno why youd go from AF to USMC, everyone wishes they went AF once theyre in lol. Im a Specialist in the Army deployed right now, I love the Army but Af gets treated like gold. If you go Marine Corps get ready for an intensely new life, I like Marines cause you get to do all the fun stuff and deployments are generally six months. Army is 12 months minimum, but they all have their advantages and disadvantages. Just remember, something you saw on tv that looked easy, isnt really easy at all lol.

What he said is exactly true, there are so many schools I wish I had in my contract before I signed up. If its in youre contract you have a much higher chance of attaining the school you want, if you dont have them in your contract you can still get to the school if your unit is willing to pay for it. Im hopefully getting air assault once the 101st airborne div gets here.

Air Force has better living conditions/per diem than any other branch, but other than that I really don't see any real upside to them vs. the Marines, besides the boot camp **** **** games. They (AF) are alot more political than I would like, which is why I went where I did. Sounds like you are already going to AF boot, but until you go through MEPS again and raise your right hand you can still change your mind. Keep that in mind if they start ******* you around before you leave.

And if you are still thinking about it, and it really seems like a better idea for your situation, you can still go to the Corps. Once again you are not Air Force (military period) until you raise your right hand.

Thank you for your future service.

No offense but it sounds like you have no idea what you want to do, so if its not to late, id wait a few months and decide on something then go for it.

Im in the Marines and love it. I think everyone in all the other branches thinks secretly to themselves "what if" they would have gone in to that Marine Recruiters office insted.

No, I think to myself, why didn't I just go back to the AF recruiters office and not step in the Marine Recruiters office... lol

(It was a clear sunny Colombus Day and the AF was closed...whodathunkit, the USMC was open..that shoulda told me something)
