Yup. It's all about breathing. Your mind will give up WAY before your body will. The fastes I've ran was a 17:49 3 mile. I did it once because the person setting the pace was a 26 mile marathon runner. Ran constant 6 minute miles WHILE calling cadence and it didn't even phase him. In the past 20 months I've ran 5 times, and 3 of those were for pt tests, but I can still run a 14 and not die. Once you get your mind right, getting your breathing down, and remember how to do it, you'll be good to go.

Improve that run man. At the gym I go to, the treadmill has a miles/min meter so you can force yourself to keep pace. You can also have it simulate a big or small hill. See if there is one around your area. Just my 2 cents.

Well i have sort been training a litle bit for my PT test. I need to take it again in order for them to get all the papers processed but im just so nervous i wotn pass it again. Will they allow me to take the test with other people? Or allow me to take the test with current ROTC Cadets? I know that it would be easier for me to pass since i would be in a competitive mode. But whenever i run by myself i tend to run slower, therefore causing me to not hit the 15min mark. What advice can yall give? Thanks guys.
P.S: I'm 6'3 190 and i am fit, but for some reason i have trouble with this two mile....

I'm 5'8" and 190. I score at least a 330. WFT is so hard about doing PT, just do the **** everyday, and when the pt test comes up you won't give a **** because its easy

If you truly want to get a better run time the ONLY other thing you can do is more running.
You need to do some 60/120. You run full sprint for 60 seconds then walk for 120 seconds. Do that for about 30-40 mins a day and run about 10 miles a week on top of that and you will easily get in the window. If you cant do the 60/120 start with 30/60. Its a great work out and will kick your ***.

I am 6'5 200 and after redeploying back to the states last year (we did very little pt in the box) I ran a 13:50 and i am a smoker so you should not having a problem. My new best as of 2 weeks ago is a 12:40 which I am still working on getting it to a 12 flat eventually.

If your not throwing up, Your not pushing yourself hard enough. You decide how hard you go you decide what you can and *cant* do. If you want ti bad enough then you will get it but nothing comes easy just push yourself. My motivation through the Army was what people thought who I was and that I would fail. I loved proving them wrong and being more than they will ever become all you have to do is want it and push your self.

You need to run around 3-4 miles. Trust me on this, if you get your mind used to running 4 miles, 2 miles will feel like a freaking breeze! What everyone else has said on here (sprint/walk) and things to that nature also are very helpful. If they are letting you wear a mp3 player while running, get some motivational type music on there to push you. believe it or not most of my "running music" for my PT test is from Rocky III and IV, and some techno. You have to remeber that when your body is beginning to shut down, your mind can pull you through the rest of it as long as you don't give up. That is why the mind is most powerful thing we have...it can trick you into pushing your body past the envelope that it believes it can do.
Far as "if your not puking your not trying" that is almost on lock when it comes to doing your actual test IMO. You should be pushing yourself to the absolute limit to achieve the best score you can.
Last time I had my PT test, I ran my 1.5 mile in under 12:00. Not bad for a 5'9 190lb kid.

^^ agreed. Get used to running 4 miles all the time and 2 miles is cake. I train running 4 miles, sometimes I like to run further for fun but for run build up I like 4 miles.

I'm a reservist. According to military standards, I'm a short, fat, un motivated soldier. Well, I still pass the PT test. It's all in your head. Remember whats at stake. If you fail it, you will have to take it again. Don't do that to your self. It's mostly mental. It's better to deal with the pain of cramps for a few minutes then to feel like you should have done better for days, and to have to retake the test.

In shape is 70 PU 70 SU and some where in the 13's for the 2 miles (maybe low 14's if you are a muscle head).
My last PT test I got 83 PU (weak) 100 SU and 13:20 mile (high altitude), I usually run in the high 12's.

i think it would be harder to pass a pt test on coke because your heart rate is already significantly raised from doin the coke. BUT there are plenty of dumb chairman, soldiers, and marines.
