Flashing back to something similar...
when I was stationed at Holloman back in 93, the base used to hold 1/4 mile drag races once a month organized by Morris Machine (a local business/drag racer). They closed off a taxiway and had all the timing lights setup for it. That went on for awhile till we got a new base commander and he put an end to that.
