When shooting RAW you can bring in a single photo then using the RAW processor you can save several photos using diffrent exposure settings. Then those seperat exposure setting photos can be merged using a HDR tool.

HDR is by far the most exploited use of processing. It makes an everyday picture look kinda cool but since everyone can do it it seems like everyone is doing it on everything. NJot the pics of the leafs on the ground with the trees is a good use but the rest are just over kill.
