The R1 is DEFF one of the better looking jap bikes out there. Duc's 999R(no one likes it)is beautiful too me. Love it. MV makes gorgeous bikes, we'll see how Harley does with that brand. KTM is also a pretty bike to ME. The new RC in that awesome orange. Nice.
The ZX14 is a great improvement over the 12R and last years 14. Got a buddy with a 07 Gixxer1000 wanted a new Busa, but didn't end up liking it, so he kept his 1000. Who knows.

yes i may be biased away from jap bikes, not tryin to hide that. i've ridin motorcross for 19 out of my 23 years of life, and choose not to ride what everyone else rides (jap bikes). i prefer euro stuff because 1) fewer people have it 2) they use more parts that are top of the line from the factory 3) i prefer the styling.
i suppose i was influenced by my dad. he has a '74 Ducati 750 sport, ' 74 Ducati 500 Desmo, '73 Ducati 450RT, '73 Moto Guzzi V7 sport, '74 Triumph Hurricane, and about 20 Montesas - all in mint shape - and for dirt bikes he's had KTM, Husaberg, and currently has a TM. so yes i am biased, but that doesn't make me a moron...or does it?
